Keep in mind this appointment means very little except to give players , staff and fans a bit of closure on rumours making the rounds . Curtis can be replaced anytime from a hour from now till the end of the season .This appointment means nothing in reality , made more for the soothing of players temparments than anything imo.
I think the players will be relieved as a whole .

Indeed! and I think most of us Jacks see the issues here for Curt, so if it does get rather rough, we could always 'Throw Jenkins in the Dugout' aye.........<laugh>

Think this may be a mistake but on the other hand by the time a foreign manager got to know the premier league and the club the season would be over. It may be the best thing and I will support him. As above we should focus on the football now.

I don't think anyone thinks that this wasn't " An Appointment of Circumstance " , but it was a different circumstance after the Norwich game . Managers would have came out of the woodwork had Monk been axed after that game and we would have ,probably ,a quality full time manager with 2 weeks to get ready for his 1st game and would have 8 games under his belt .
Jenkins excuse for not being able to sign a manager now is we weren't a very attractive gig for a new manager so close to 18th place , a scenario he created in the first place .
He also says he wasn't ready to react to problems with manager related issues because things looked ok in mid September .
For one thing , you should always be ready , it's your job . From the middle of September till , and including the Norwich game , we played 6 games ....surely by then Jenkins could regonize things were going south in a hurry.
Lots of time to prepare a change , does he change managers ...no , 3 more games Monk goes on till he gets the axe .
And he gets the axe at the worst possible time for the club, just before the Christmas schedule ...thank god he got lucky with Curtis pushing him off the wagon and taking the reins while Huw flys around in a panic and gets no return calls in general and finds out no one wants his untimely position as his manager .

For me that statement shows how naïve and incompetent our board are at the moment. We talk about not having a plan b on the pitch well there ****ing certainly wasn't one upstairs. This statement makes our club look like a ****ing laughing stock and still a L2 set up. I think someone said we need a good Chief Exec. how right you are.

In all fairness as much as I am not convinced with Curtis, He has got the ****ing Buffoons on out boatd out of a massive hole they have dug themselves into.

He WAS the director of picking the right man , it really WAS the only thing he was good at .
He IS the director of everything these days , and he's terrible at most of it .
Once he stopped delegating power to the right man ,we've lost our way .
Officially he is Chairman , shareholder and chief executive .......the face of the board in public , organizer of the board and club in general .

I have always maintained that we need a serious 'Director of Football', Jenkins has enough on his plate as Chairman of our club, and the Board need to recognise that we have developed on the field far quicker than off it, and they are getting caught out, time to move up a level and get seriously organised, and as an example look at our pitiful commercial department, anyway lets hope Huw shows some Professionalism on the Striker front....<ok>

Interesting times ahead for the Club, let's hope that we can come through the next few months with our Premier League status intact. It's going to be tough and even if we play well until the end of the season I have a feeling it's going to go to the wire.

As a side note, there are plenty of Premier League clubs who have had caretaker managers, with varying degrees of success.

Bang on the money on both points.
I'd argue that if we are to move forward, it's possibly time for new investors to get involved in our club. Not a controlling stake, but a new voice or two to give them a kick up the arse.

Looking back, that proposed American investment/take over may not have been a bad thing after all.

Especially if it works out at Everton, which I think it will.
