George"Spud" Murphy was one tough hombre. Only played 15 games(9 goals) in season'47-'48 being a centre forward converted from full-back. Often scored from crowded central positions when the goalie and/or other defender/s plus the ball ended in the net all bundled in by George.

Certainly the roughest centre forward I saw play for City.
I was at Trinity with a lad called Spud Murphy.. and he was hard.. but fair!

Livermore.. end of

The Livermores are supposedly a real tough family. Well known around London, apparently they've always been bouncers at the big proper criminal haunts and have more than a bit of a reputation.

By proper criminals I mean they'd be knocking about at places with folks like the Krays etc.

Don't know how much truth is in that.

Livermore is certainly a 'hard man' by today's standards he's come back beefed up and I suspect what you say about his family may well be true. However compared to say brabin ( who was an actual bouncer ) or simmo he's a pussy cat.
Deano is a bit of a throw back but sorry if a team were picked based on how hard they were there's no way Deano would displace big billy or chillo ,

Bit before my time and of course in those days you could get away with a lot unseen or otherwise
In 'defence' of the inclusion of mcgregor as the goalie he always seems to be about two seconds from having a complete melt down God knows what he was like in the Glasgow derbys or his time in Turkey which can be pretty volatile
His sending off against palace the season before last takes some beating especially when he knows he's on camera.

To an extent, I would agree but you could say exactly the same about Lee Bracey - and he was no hard man.
