Best wine in Spain is Ribera Del Duero. Expensive though. Rioja is like Bordeaux. There's Rioja and then there's real Rioja!
The best wine I've ever had in Spain was from a local vineyard and I only ever saw it at one restaurant, can't remember the name of it for the life of me but it was comfortably the best white wine I have ever had and it was cheap as chips! It's well worth going for stuff from the smaller, local vineyards, some of it is is absolute crap but occasionally you find something quite sublime!
Good Spanish whites are rare, but do exist. All wine here is cheap as chips compared to the UK. For £1- £1.50 a bottle You can buy a very acceptable everyday quaffer!...
I knew I'd seen the film as I remembered the line. I couldn't think of the name though, so I looked it up. Indie film called Sideways. Good film, as I remember.
Damn ... I was sure it was Star Wars: Attack Of The Vines... Initially I thought it might be The Grapes Of Wrath...
