Agree on PEA being better suited to us. At our most successful under Wenger, we've had a combination of pace, power and skill in CF, both Henry and Anelka optimised this. The problem we've been having is Giroud and Walcott offer such contrasting things, and don't fulfill the complete package. Giroud is big, strong and great in the air, whereas Walcott is speedy and has a good finish. Having a player that can combined the two would be the ideal solution. Maybe PEA is the answer?
PEA is what Welbeck should be for us. Difference is PEA is top drawer. For those thinking he only did it in Germany. He also scored a bagload in France. He's also a CL player. He's the finished product.
Welbeck has the physical attributes, but can't back it up in the skills department. I don't think I've ever seen Welbeck pull anything special, he comes across more of a workhorse than anything else. He is way down the pecking order from Giroud/Walcott and I'd sell him off in the summer, to free up squad space.
I totally agree with this, I love Welbeck's work rate and 'heart' but his touch is awful as is his decision making and his finishing can be hit and miss (no pun intended). He definitely needs to be sold off if we are to sign a new striker (whether in Jan or in the Summer) and I think this needs to happen.
Spot on. Give credit where it's due, he gives 100% and is useful in closing down and supporting. But he simply hasn't shown any sort of play that would suggest he could make it at the elite level. As much as I criticise Giroud, he does have some very good attributes and offers us a particular type of attack such as being a target man, holding up the ball well and bringing others into the game. He is also aerially very good. But what does Welbeck excel in? Speed? This is pretty useless if you don't know what to do with it and he looks pretty clueless at times.
I think some people can get put off by Lukaku because he isn't always the silkiest player on the ball and he can look a bit clumsy, but he is a very potent attacking threat and causes so much trouble for centre-halves. Like I said: he's scored over 70 goals playing for Everton and WBA at the age of 22. He is only going to improve. I don't feel that £40m would be enough to get him in the current climate and if he does leave Everton, I'd expect it to be £50m+.
I wonder when his contract ends and whether we can tempt him to hold out until there's only a year/year and a half left on his contract, then he'll be much cheaper...
Apparently Jordan Ibe, who looked dangerous and scored their winner against Stoke, is out of Liverpool's next three fixtures. So they reportedly have Coutinho, Sturridge, Henderson, Lovren, Toure, Skrtel and Ibe all missing when we visit Anfield, whilst we should have Sanchez back. We won't have a better chance to get 3 points all season, there are no excuses to not win this game.
Harsh on Perry Groves, he was a very decent finisher. In fact if we'd had 11 Perry Groves on the pitch I'm sure we would have gone on to win every trophy going......
I wouldn't. We've been quite efficient results wise, but we've not been playing good football recently. Perhaps this would be down to the insane fixture schedule, but Arsenal do have this innate ability to screw up situations when the scales tip in our favour. That being said, given the key players that you are missing for this one, and assuming Sanchez is back in the squad, I think we should be winning this really. We won't get a better chance against a depleted squad.
We haven't been playing that great at all either unfortunately mate, well not for you! We struggle to score and we leak goals too, so probably the ideal game for you guys right now.
Spuds currently losing at home to Leicester. Would you rather they got dumped out of the FA cup today, or had to play a replay at Leicester in 10 days time ?
I don't see Spurs as real contenders but Leicester I'd like to have more games to distract from there league games so a Leicester win or draw is fine with me!
Ref handing Spurs a penalty at the end there, awful decision. But at least it means Spurs have another game to play and could still go out at the hands of Leicester.
