Since getting thumped 3-0 at our place, Middlesbrough have played seven league matches, winning six and drawing one, and in the process have not conceded a single goal. That's one hell of a pace to set and its going to take some consistency on our part to catch them up. They are far from home and dry but as it stands they are looking good for one of the auto promotion places. It'll be good to see Daws back against either Cardiff or Charlton so we can get back to some clean sheets ourselves. UTT
We played really well that day on the back of a unbeaten run so let's hope that the return of Dawson gets us on another, I can not believe some of the comments on here regarding Steve Bruce but it's a forum for opinions, my opinion is he is the right man for the job.
Middlesboro have done well since they lost here 3-0. However, nothing has been sorted. Far from it. What Middlesboro did show as TWS did last Tuesday is that Derby are not as good as many think they are.
Nothing has changed. There are four serious contenders for the automatic slots (not withstanding January acquisitions/ sales) and they are us, Boro, Derby and Burnley. Boro are flying now but we've still managed to hang on during our blip and our time will come again.
We are in a great position and certainly would have taken it if offered at the start of the season! Usually one team puts a great run together and comes through towards the end, I'm reckoning if they are going to add to their squad it'll be the Wendies?
It's interesting to note, Boro's last 6 games have been against the 6 teams immediately below themselves, excluding us of course. 5 wins, 1 draw (with 8th place Brum), no goals conceded. Impressive indeed. Seems we woke 'em up.
No credit due to boro, we're only halfway through the season and they haven't achieved anything yet. Once it's mathematically confirmed, then they deserve credit. Their last results have been a combination of opposition failing to turn up and lots of very favourable refereeing decisions from biased refs.
City & Derby's next 2 games are at home wheras Boro are away.. we'll see how the bast.. I mean Smoggies are after those..
Playing the wendies when they'd played 48 hours previously! when boro had a week off was a big slice of luck!
This is true, but you don't put a run together like we have since we got drubbed by you, through pure luck and biased referees. There were no complaints from Derby last weekend.
I've said all along there isn't much between the top few teams but the deciding factor could go down to who gets and who best copes with injuries. You only have to lose a couple of key players which could have a massive impact
