Chron are reporting that we have bid 19m for him.

I'd take him was quality last year. However I think his wage demands and the fact we look like going down might prevent this

If this happens I'll get Nev's arse out in Fenwicks windown next to JPF wearing a SAFC shirt.

Here is the article from the Chron....

Newcastle United have bid £19million for Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette - according to reports in France.
As reported in the Chronicle on December 30, the Magpies have been monitoring the 24-year-old’s delicate situation with the Ligue 1 club. And fans in France woke up this morning to a blazing front page headline in the top French sports paper L’Equipe reporting news of the bid.
L’Equipe claim that United sent two representatives to France last week to make an offer to Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas. Aulas seemed to believe that the £19million was a good starting offer for the player but will hold out for £23million.
However, reports have suggested that Lacazette is not as keen on the idea of moving to Newcastle. Of course, that could still change in the January window but it is clear that the Magpies are trying to get deals done early in the winter trading period.

Lacazette is unsettled at Lyon after falling out with Aulas when he went public on his wage demands.
He said last year: “Yes his behaviour hurt and disappointed me. It hurt. I think that is a justified word to use.
“When you are a youngster at the club, in the town, and you have never really behaved in a nasty way to anyone, to be treated like that, yes, it hurts.”
United have also been offered the chance to sign Loic Remy on loan from Chelsea with the player expected to give his decision in the next week.

Lyon are not in a position to turn down big bids, they're a little like your club were at the minute. They cut back on wages hugely over the past few years, their club really has tightened it's belt lately so they could be tempted. Aulas has made a mess of this, he'd have got the £30m AL is worth if he never publicly embarrassed him last year, but AL's performances have dropped after that and now Aulas is left in a position where he probably has to cut his losses. £20m is a good deal for both clubs, although maybe the player would prefer a bigger club.

If Aubemayang moves from Dortmund this window, I'd expect them to be looking at Lacazette as a replacement.

L'Equipe are reporting it. This one has legs. Well, in terms of the bid.
Lacazette doesn't want to move as he's concerned about how French players, namely Ben Arfa and Thauvin have been treated by the club.

Hell, if he's going off Ben Arfa's reference, he'll never join another club. That lad causes trouble wherever he goes.

MBiwa is the one I'd worry about, he's at Lyon now, he's having a nightmare of a season so far and I doubt he'll be 'bigging up' Newcastle to his team mates.

The agent will do all the convincing you need, which could be a blessing for you... money talks louder than crap team mates. Near enough every player in France outside of Paris wants to play in this league of course, so I wouldn't rubbish the chances.

    Never going to happen!!!!!!!

Yeah OL can not turn down 25 Million Euros, but we have no interest what so ever. OL, Lacazette's agents, L'Equipe and the other French Journo's printing this rubbish are just using Newcastle as a pawn to generate interest in their player/client, forcing other clubs to make their move.

Anyone who thinks he is joing us needs to go flush their heads down the toilet for a good solid 20 mins!

Good luck with that... Year ago he was being linked with best clubs in the world! (No offence).

Its ya going to be hard to pick up players in this window who are going to be going to euros... Won't want to move and risk their form going bad etc.

He won't be joining us. It's a ploy to sell season tickets.

I'm not saying he wouldnt come because he would. I'm saying we wouldnt get him.

If Newcastle really wanted Lacazette and Mike Ashley really wanted him, he would be here, we would pay the fee, pay his salary and make sure he was here. But our club arent serious about competing, we have the basis of a good squad, Moussa, Gini, Mitro (as a young back up striker) Ayoze, Mbemba Janmaat, but we need this quality to be consistant and a few more players of this ilk

Doesn't want to come here. Fallen out with his current club. Overpriced.

Ticks all the boxes. This one is nailed on.

As well in terms of form, its really not going great for him this season. Hasnt scored since November and has 6 in all competitions. 3 of which were against St Etienne in October, so his only scored against 4 teams.

OL will do well to get £25 sterling and Lacazette will do well to get in the french national team for the euro's on his current form. Some Big teams might not take a £20 odd million punt on him atm. I fully expect him to stay were he is.

Silly season is definitely underway. I just don't see him fancying the relegation battle for some reason. We need to be realistic. Our options have narrowed significantly with our situation, its just not appealing.

He barely got into the French national team on his blistering form last season, he's displaced by Greizmann, Benzema, Giroud, Martial and even his team mate Fekir. He gets minutes for France, but rarely.

Aulas is a businessman, if AL continues his 'poor form' (8 goals this season), he'll be lucky to get an offer of £20m for him next summer.

Stranger things have happened, QPR signed Remy for example and he knew they were in the ****.

I dont think it would ever happen, but

If in some parallel universe, Lacazette signed for newcastle, or some other premier league team and managed to get himself 7-12 goals between now and the rest of the season, then there is a fair chance he would get in the france squad. I think he has more of a chance moving then he does staying. Plus, our history with strikers isnt that bad, Loic Remy and Demba Ba did alright out of their short stays with us.

At his best he is below Greizmann & Benzema, on a par with Giroud (but two completely different players) and better than Martial and Fekir, at this moment in time, Martial has a lot of time on his side to be fair.

He'd make the France squad for sure, if he scored 8 PL goals, but it'd depend on Benzema and Giroud's form/fitness as to whether he got a game. That why I don't think he'll be too bothered about the Euro's at this point in time, he's unlikely to get involved much no matter what.

Sissoko gets plenty of game time for France, there's no basis that playing for Newcastle will damage his chances of making the national side.

His biggest gripe is gonna be that he thinks he's better than Newcastle, which he is and has been consistently, so it all depends on your owner/DOF convincing him, that Newcastle are 'on the up'.

Huge statement of intent signing a striker of this quality and importantly, would probably have big resale value.
