It wasn't, it was Craig Mackail-Smith that we allegedly turned down because he was £200k more than McLean. At the same time, Austin moved from Swindon to Burnley for less than we paid for McLean, we were never involved, it was between Burnley and Ipswich.

You're wrong. I remember distinctly we were the first club in for Austin and Swindon rejected our bids. We then went on to sign Aaron McLean for £1.3m and Austin moved to Burnley for £1.5m after rejecting Ipswich I think it was.
It's a club problem, for years we have struggled with signing strikers that score with any level of frequency or consistency.
