This is correct, it's a pity they didn't like each other enough to kill each other .... humourless pair of right-on twats.
I played football for a German club here in Regina and back in the late seventies, after a significant win, we had a late drinking party which ended up with one of the German guys phoning Wolfgang Overath who scored the equalizer for Germany in 66. "Wolfie" was very accomodating to my friend and talked to him for some time and said hello to an Englander.
Reminds me, I've played football with quite a few German lads here in Toronto, in fact co-manage a team with one of them to this day. He was a great striker in his hey-day, but we banned him from heading the ball as it often burst on the sharp corners. He's a good drinking buddy and takes it all well.
I've only visited Germany 3 times but each time this Englander was made to feel welcome, in fact so welcome in one bar that I was asked for a game of pool. I am a snooker player (crap) and pool is not my game despite the similarities so I was well and truly walloped. But what followed was a discussion, the Germans had broken but understandable English, about 1966 and all that, the result being that they enjoyed the game but obviously not the result and were not at all bothered about the goal or no goal incident. The Germans went on to prove they were a powerful force in World Football whilst we struggled, and still do, but from that discussion I never bought another drink all afternoon, Becks or some other larger, and they got me well and truly pissed laughing as I staggered out of the bar door, I got back to our accommodation, goodness knows how and I can't say the wife was all that happy with the state I was in so she put me to bed.
The Sky computer bods are very naught to fiddle things like that just to pander to people's blind patriotism. The actual footage clearly shows the ball landing on the line. No offence meant.
I don't understand your point. You're agreeing that one decision went England's way and one went against them, so how are you disagreeing with Bojack?
Never any doubt really re. Hurst's goal. imo. You can tell by Roger Hunt's reaction as the ball comes down from the bar that it was over the line. Maybe now those who doubted it did will give it a rest.
please log in to view this image Very clearly on the line indeed. All this computer nonsense isn't even needed, the actual footage shows the ball had crossed the line.
Even if the ball were on the ground in that still, that image isn't clear one way or the other. But the ball isn't on the ground, so it's irrelevant. An image of the ball in the air proves nothing either way. Similarly in the clip below, the point at which they pause it suggests that the ball is flush on the line, when in fact it's already bounced and is on the way up.
Well if you wish to carry on disputing the obvious then that is your problem. It has always been a goal,, imo. Not to mention the person who mattered most........the linesman.
So the ball is on its way back up on the other side of the line? I wonder how it got there. Even just watching the video is clear enough. Besides, the still was published by a Spanish company who do fancy projects on videos and screens, presumably with the aid of fancy gadgetry capable of scrolling through the video frame by frame. You're arguing that the sky is green and grass is blue.
You've lost me now. At the point they've frozen it in the YouTube clip, the ball clearly looks to be on the line. I'm saying that it's already bounced so it's not reliable evidence that it wasn't over the line when it bounced. But it's certainly no indication that it was a goal either. As an aside, I think people need to remember that the ball doesn't even need to be touching the line when it lands for it not to be a goal. The goal extends vertically from the line, and if any part of the ball is breaking that vertical plane...
