Sorry if players cant play after 3 days between games then they are not fit enough. dont play this myth that footballers have to have a week off between games <laugh><doh>

There is the question of injuries......

There is also the fact that Sunderland will have rested their first choice team....

If a player cant play at least two games a week then they are in the wrong job. We need the strongest team possible to beat Oxford because if our strongest struggle against them then there is not much hope left. Why rest players ? Its 3 days later we have to play Sunderland not 3 hours and if they cant to that then we are a side of very unfit players....3 days is more than ample time between games if you are a good player.

Dai - clearly every Manager in the PL, together with their medical & conditioning teams are all wrong....... and your opinion is correct....

I bow to your superior knowledge...<cheers>

You are making a bold statement there that is completely wrong. There will be plenty of players chosen for both games......Where do you get this misinformation from ? Clubs are not run like that and will play players if fit. Most clubs don't have the luxury of the big sides that have enough quality players in their squad to field a side better than most clubs first teams......

Dai - I expect that some players may play in both games, but not every player - as your earlier post seemed to imply <cheers>

Dai you are well and truly off your bloody trolly to expect us to field our best team, as it is I KNOW we will not, so sit down and don't start again until you engage your brain.........<cheers>

Have you considered that a few may get injured there by limiting the options for Wednesdays game, We'll be up against a side who will be going all out for a result , no disrespect to Oxford but technically we should be quicker in mind and movement so expect a few mistimed challenges ,that's when you get injuries.

Considered players get injured ???? Sorry that can happen any time any where.....You might as well not play the game at all......Losing against a league two side will be the end of us at the top and we will end up in div 2 with oxford in no time.........We must win and only our best players are capable of that........3 days between games my arse . If they cant do that i hope they do get relegated........we need men not pansies giving their all not cry babies that cant work for 90 minutes and must have a week off.......<laugh>

Rangel , Britton , Fernandez , Routledge and Fab should outright not play .
Past that , Naughton , Montero , Amat , Grimes , Barrow and Emnes should outright play .
Eder and Tananou should play if they are fit .
    Fill in from there .

If we dont show that we are serious about getting our best players gaining confidence against the easiest team they will play this season to score goals and get their confidence back for the league games coming then i hope we lose as it will serve us right......Sunderland will beat us hands down if we cant get the team scoring and this is the best and only time we have this chance for the best players to prove to themselves they can do it........if they are just spectators and they see us struggling then they wont go into the next game 3 days later with any confidence at all and Fat sam will out manage Curtis all day long as Curtis fields his lack of confident side, They need the Oxford game to improve their confidence and score some goals....

Dai, wonder who said this on the Everton v Swansea FA Cup thread?

"Nobody is looking at the real big picture here, here are a few facts...

We have a small squad, smaller than it should be knowing the amount of games we could possibly be involved with this season and on top of that we have key players injured or out on loan.
We have some massive games coming up against Napoli (home & away) and a big game against Liverpool so put yourself in Monks shoes and try and decide which is the best way to deal with this with a small squad, Do we risk putting out a full strength squad against everton in the FA cup who we have never beaten in our history and risk injuring any more key players when we have some important games coming up in a very short time....The sensible answer to this after weighing up all the options is a definite NO. If we did play our strongest side and we did lose more key players then it wont only be just everton game we would lose it would put in jeopardy our chances against napoli and liverpool and the rest of the season.
Football is about percentages and monk had to make a hard decision and for me due to our small squad and injured players he made the absolute right decision....And credit where credit is due the players he selected never let him down with their commitment against a side that was far superior to them...
Look at the Big picture before jumping the gun and blaming monk for a very hard decision as manager he had to make, I think it was a very courageous and brave decision that shows he has it in him to be a very good manager..."

Dai - compare what you say about injuries in both threads. I hope that it is evident that your views are inconsistent. But, hey, at the end of the day we are all entitled to change our minds! <cheers>

Also, in both scenarios we are in real danger of relegation - so not really different positions!
