As you all know The Rangers are going through turbulent times behind the scenes. Things might be going well on the field with us flying at the top of the league and still on course for a treble, but its in the boardroom where our grim reaper lurks.

I am deadly serious when I say our club is in grave danger of being stripped to the bare bones and plunged into a dark age for at least the next 5 years.

It’s well known that Sir David Murray has left this mess as his legacy, certainly not Murray Park and definitely not this shiny new Ibrox Superdome complete with casino and hotels. Murray’s legacy is a web of lies and a club in financial ruin.

In true cowardly fashion, Murray drifted into the shadows before it got worse, as Lloyds Banking Group seized control of MIH and all their assets, including Rangers. They DO NOT have the best interests of Rangers as a football club in mind. They want money, and they want it soon.

Donald Muir wants to rid the club of 5, yes FIVE first team players and leave Walter Smith operating with a squad of 14 beefed up by youth players. Boyd is the obvious and most public one, Steve Davis is another who is being touted and Madjid Bougherra is also being flaunted around the English Premiership. There are two more who are yet to be identified. That is the top defender, top midfielder and top striker in the SPL up for sale. We simply cannot afford to lose these players, this move will hand Celtic the SPL title on a platter and leave us without Champions League football next season.

We all know the bank tried to sack the management trio of Smith, McCoist and McDowall but they actually did sack Martin Bain although he was quickly re-instated following an internal row. It is in fact Smith and Bain that are fighting against the bank behind the scenes to stop them from downsizing the club and to keep the credibility of Rangers intact.

The bank will begin calling in the MIH debt from January 31st and they want £31m from the sale of the club in order to service this. There is a consortium having talks with the bank who suggested a bid of £18m (approx 60p to the £1) this was refused on the same day, which I find pathetic as Lloyds Banking Group have sanctioned 60p in the £1 for the sale of assets of other struggling companies.

My fear is the collapse of the takeover, then when January 31st comes we see the sale of key players and Kris Boyd forced to sign a pre-contract with a club down south.

We as a support must put pressure on Lloyds Group, they are the enemy within now that Murray has gone. Please, if you’re going to the game against Hearts this weekend take part in any vocal or visual protest against this bank. One flag against Lloyds shook up Donald Muir, as did the significant vote of no confidence in him at the recent AGM.

Lloyds need to know there will be a widespread revolt if they further downsize our club. They need to know it will be a marketing disaster for them. More importantly, Walter Smith and Martin Bain need a stronger hand, and support from us can give them that.

The takeover must happen soon and give us the shot in the arm that'll see us romp to the treble, we must do our bit to help force the bank's hand.
 
I would like to think something will be sorted out soon with the bank ?

The take over never really got off the ground and all has gone quiet again.Its a difficult time for us and thank god for Walter Smith,i know i have slated him in the past but he is the man holding the club together right now.
 
Can I ask why the bank should write off millions in debt just to satisfy Rangers fans? It never happened with Motherwell or Livi. The size of the club shouldn't matter. Your team was massively mismanaged by the money-men and the board. The bank didn't get Rangers into this mess, so why should they take a massive hit to appease the fans?

If Rangers fans care so much they should make a concerted effort to buy the club themselves. Not start banging their fists on the ground like weans, because they don't like the nasty bankers.
 
My biggest problem is i just dont know what to believe.

Was there a bid or not? The reports said it was Dave King and Paul Murray, then a few days later in another report they both denied it. I dont see how King CAN make a bid, if his assets have been frozen?

DO we need to sell players?! Not according to Donald Muir. Not according to Walter Smith. At the AGM we were told the bank only wanted £1m a season - so why the **** have they got somebody on the board?

Im totally fed up with the whole thing and dont know who to believe.

Cast your mind back to your own clubs troubled times,the bank wrote off dept for you,so why are we any different ?
 
Venom - They have accepted 60p in the £1 for assets of other struggling businesses. They are holding Rangers to ransom. You are right the club has been mismanaged by David Murray, most notably using the sale of Cuellar and Hutton to service the debt of MIH. However, he is not the problem now, its the bank playing hardball.

There is a plan from the RST to takeover the club but it is yet to be presented to Lloyds.

TN8 - The consortium did not officially bid £18m, they presented it to the bank before tendering and they straight up refused it. They want the full £31m as they want to use this to service MIH's debt by 31st Jan. If we're not taken over players will be sold, its thanks to Walter Smith and incredibly Martin Bain that we havent sold the likes of Davis already.

Divert all anger towards Lloyds and give Smith full backing. He needs it.
 
The biggest problem sems to be with MIH,they are in the big dept.Our dept is smalll in todays markets and managable.It seems the bank are putting on the pressure because of MIH.Cant see us losing 3-4 first team players,someone will come out the blue before this happens,wont they ?
 
It's a strange time for Rangers fans - (europe aside) a decent season, but very worrying financially. There's also the fact that on the pitch if you continue with the policy of no signings, at some stage it's gonna bite you on the ass. Can Celtic continue to be so rubbish? Injuries are building up, is there enough back-up?

It is a strange time indeed.On the park we are doing fine.If someone would have told me when leaving Ibrox last Dec 27th when 7 behind Celtic we would have gone on to win the title and now be sitting 9 clear i would have phoned the mental hospital.

However it whats happening off the park thats grabbing the headlines these days and thats a real pity,lets hope this gets sorted out soon and we can go back to just enjoying the ups and downs of being a Bear.
 
I clearly said it wasn't right that debt be written off DC. However you are talking about some thing that happened 17 years ago which wasn't during an international banking crisis. The rules change over time unfortunately. With the rules for banking bonuses changing and tighter regulations all banks are loathe to write of debt and take a loss just now.

If the B.o.S still held Rangers debt then I believe it would have been written off due to internal pressure from within Scotland. Lloyds don't give a **** about Rangers. The fans should buy the club ASAP and if needs be sell it to an investor at the right time. I fear anyone who bought Rangers now might end up taking it apart piece-meal like Romanov is slowly doing to Hearts. Any individual or small group who buys the club now would have to be seriously minted to move the club forward.

I'm not trying to disparage Rangers fans here, just saying that moaning to the bank is counter-productive as they really couldn't care less. A positive step would be fan investment with a sugar-daddy behind them.

Agree Venom,however Lloyd's cant just stick their hands out and expect to be paid straight away.This loan would have come with time scales and agreements in place,why should we be put on the spot for MIH's/ global down turns in fortunes.Typical banks if you ask me,all smiles when the goings good,the devil himself when your down.
 
Lloyds have accepted 60p in the £1 before (indeed less) however this has been in respect of cases where that is all they would ever get out of it.

Rangers is different. There is CL money from UEFA, players, Stadium etc that can claw them back all of their owed money. Banks cant just write off money - they have to justify it. If they were to say reject 60p in the £1 and end up getting 20p in £1 then they would be criticised so they take it in those cases - but on the flip side they must get as much back as they can where they can.

The bigger problem isnt rangers its MIH - chances are they'll get less than 60p in the £1 back there - so they are making up for that by holding out on rangers IMO
 
Venom, just to remind you Celtic were released for £1. Although they didnt have the dark cloud of MIH hanging over them. You're right Lloyds dont give a **** about Rangers, that's why Donald Muir is in there to strip us down. What they do care about is public image, marketing and the personal and business accounts held by many Rangers supporters.

They need to know that the threat of losing much more than £31m per annum in investment from their customers is real. This will wake the bastards up and when the next offer comes (and it will) then it will be more in their best interests to accept it.
 
Agreed, I hate the evil ****ers and they are draining the life out of one of our two biggest teams. Which is unacceptable, although no-one knows the full story outside of the bank and the people in charge at Rangers.

I can't see Lloyds being allowed to put someone on the board unless payments were missed or some agreement was broken. Sad state of affairs really. I like a bit of a wind-up about it now and then. But as a Celtic fan I know how horrible it is having your club lined-up and ready for the firing squad.

Teams need to be more responsible with their finances. Shocking that a couple of years back the only club to be in the black AND turn a profit in the whole of the UK was Hibs! Football isn't exempt from the rules and Rangers debt is piddling compared to the disgusting and irrepsonsible debts of the top ten teams in Europe.
 
Anport has got the nail on the head. That is the situation from the bank's view, the consortium want the cheapest price possible so there is more money to invest in the club. I'm hoping they start by renaming Murray Park but thats for a different thread.
 
If the Bank are going to sanction the sale of players to pay off the debt then were ****ed, but theres no way the Bank will get back all of there money if they do this, do they honestly beleive other clubs are goin to offer 4,5,6 Million for players from a club they know MUST sell, they will be lucky to get offers over 2 million for the realy good players like davis, bougy, mcgregor. The bank have got the realise for us to pay back the debt without a takeover the club has to be successfull, fair enough we probly wont bring any players in but if we keep this sqaud together for another year or two then we will win the League simply becuase Celtic dont have the balls to spend the money to crush us and even if they did they dont have the manager to do it either.

What worries me more than our financial problems is that sooner or later the Celtic fans arent goin to be happy with trying to be just a wee bit better than Rangers and put pressure on there board to bring in a decent manager with decent signings, if this happens were ****ed.
 
I think someone from Rangers must step forward and tell us exactly whats happening now.The old " Mirrors and smokescreens " are alive and well at Ibrox these days.

I dont know if the bank will really be that scared that a few Rangers fans tell them they wont bank with them anymore.We need everyone involved to come out and tell it like it is.<ok>
