We are the best in the world! We are the best in the world! We have beaten Liverpool 3-0 in football! It is completely unbelievable! Liverpool, birthplace of giants.William Gladstone, Edwina Currie, Frankie Vaughan, John Parrot, Derek Nimmo, Robbie Fowler, Beryl Bainbridge, Rex Harrison, Jimmy Tarbuck, John Lennon, Stan Boardman, Keith Chegwin, Cilla Black. Can you hear me Cilla Black? Your boys took one hell of a beating. Your boys took one hell of a beating. I'm quite pleased, actually
Like I said earlier its only a preseason friendly you shouldnt be worried and we shouldnt get carried away, but on the other hand dont make excuses by saying you were using fringe players and reserves because thats true of both teams.
I rang Slumberside to ask what had happened to the match commentary, on 'Radioplayer'. Apparently, the Beeb couldn't put it up/out, as they'd supplied the feed to City. I wasn't the only one to call and ask wtf?. Couldn't get it from City site (or I didn't suss out how to). Luckily the recommended link to P2P worked, but with a very low download speed to stream it. Brilliant game, we passed the ball well, there was some nice football played on the deck and almost everyone had a great game, even Macca, in fact particularly Macca. Chester MotM for me, barely put a foot wrong and I can't believe we moved him out of central defense last season. In a competitive game we wouldn't have won 3-0, but if ever there was a time for cautious optimism, this is it.
Very good game, everybody impressed me, perhaps apart from Evans in the first half. Chester, Macca, Gulasci, Brady, McKenna, Simpson and Koren all particularly impressed me. Gulasci looks solid in goal, and made some great saves. Also, reminds me of Mannone with his quick distribution, always keen to quickly roll it out, and he seems to have good reactions too. Koren looked a different player too, much more involved and keen to get stuck in than last season, a great strike too for that goal. Brady is what we need while we are missing Stewart, I wonder whether those two will be playing on each wing later in the season. Simpson looked stronger, and confident on the ball, it is going to be very tough to decide the starting two up front this season. Then McKenna also looks a good addition, seems to give advice to the younger players on the pitch, was having chats with Pearson when he had the chance etc... During the second half the likes of Mclean, Rosenior and Cairney came and sat right near me in the West Stand (they were with Cooper), and when Devitt took on Adam down the wing near the end there was roars of laughter, Mclean was uncontrollable.
Felt so much better watching this! Agree McShane had a good game; Killer too, to a certain degree. Koren looked to be back in the business and Brady was ace. Chester solid as a rock, Simpson showing and McKenna pretty solid. Harper seemed ok too. UTT TFFT
Great game, good crowd, and even better football. The two centre backs where class for us, although anyone know what happened to Hobbs? But Macca and Cheseter have played very well together, Chester has to start at centre half, Ayala still looked class but do we need both? Rosenior and Dudgeon provided great support, Evans and Cairney passed it well and took it off the defence, Brady class above. Fryatt as usual had good movement but had no real chances.
I was shocked when i saw this come up on Sky sports, but Friendlies can go mad sometimes so it is nothing to worry about as you have a good team this season.
What made my day were all those plastic scousers (who come from Hull) sat with the home supporters eating humble pie! Why not try supporting your local team you loooooosersss Oh Also all those 'real' scousers sat in the west stand upper today, at least you got up and clapped! looked like you were really enjoying you day in east yorkshire....Hahahaha Today was a good day to be a city fan
I'm not even bothered that we won. It's just a friendly, and we've already won two of those against North Ferriby and Winterton. PS. I think my apathy may be down to the fact that I've been awake since 7:00am yesterday morning, and feel like I'm going slightly mad. The inside of my head feels warm and fuzzy.
I was at the game and thought all 3 of Hull's goals were excellent. First two were superb longish range finishes, and the third was well worked with some crisp passing in the build up. If you play to that sort of standard every game, you won't lose many.
Do Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam etc count as "fringe players, reserves and players expected to be sold". I suspect our second half line-up was a tad cheaper than yours <wink>
jiust watched it on lfc tv..some pleasing aspects from city, liked the look of dudgeon and brady..and adebola showed what he can be used for with his assist, and koren showed a reminder what he can do when allowed in the centre of the park 20 yards from goal.......to be fair tho, liverpool clearly werent arsed 1st half, and i fear everybody will now expect us to win the league without conceding a point or a goal..
A;ways nice to stuff the scousers, but lets not get carried away we were playing limited oppositon ie benitez's awful buys in that first half. Positives for city, Was well impressed with Jimmy Chester throughout can tell he's styled his game on Rio just the way he carrys hiself and how calm and cool he is, reads the game very well. Tom Cairney put himself about well how many times have we ever said that? The dudgeon Brady left hand side combo looked very busy i think alot of our assists will come from this combination, although Rosie had a good run out tuther side and made some promising raids into the pool half. Gulasci solid if unspectacular, Basso a bit worrying, Mcshane did okay but found on the wrong side of his man but recovered with a good tackle on Ngog wouldnt of needed a last ditch tackle if he'd stayed goal side, battled well though. The 3rd goal highlighted the extra dimension the Adebola signing has given us how many times did we see one of those types of goals last season? Very strong play and nicely brought down into the path of Simpson. I though Simpson looked lively could be in line for a fruitful season. Last of all Noticed Mckenna dropping off always making himself available to pass too ala Bullard style il dare to say, something else we missed at times last season. Good hit out, Passing was promising and the movement good. Seems we have a pretty good squad.
Bloody brilliant and am having quite a few beers tonight to celebrate, who cares if its a friendly WE ARE HULL, HULL 3 LIVERPOOL 0!!!!
