The Germans said the Soviet linesman gave the goal out of recognition for the help the Arctic convoys gave the Russians in WW2. I doubt he was thinking that much.

'Constant failure' wouldn't have a success somewhere in it, you massive ****ing arsehole.

The fact you have no care at all for it shows what a prick you are.

    No offence.

Probably correct there. The linesman was Azerbaijani and likely detested the Soviets for invading his country in the early 20th century.

Too much dwelling in the past young man im afraid
Some of you seem to be happy with our one and only world cup final but i find it embarrassing.
Add to that never reaching a Euro final for the so called best league in the world is extremely poor to say the least

How dare us be proud of our achievements!

You might want to take you head out of your arse and read an English match thread on here if you think we're happy with only one World Cup.

    Miserable sod.

    No offence.

Well this is one thing us oldies can look back with relish, its was a triumph despite what those of a younger age try to rubbish as being 50 years ago, the ball never crossed the line and all the other **** that is thrown about by those who have never seen an England team as World Champions. I was 16 at the time and sat through that whole match, including extra time, being on the edge of the seat in a mates house, b&w tele, and literally biting your finger nails when the German's equalised at the last and having to sit through more drama not knowing if you would **** yourself. Then when those immortal Kenneth Wolstenhome words, 'They think its all over .......... it is now' when Geoff Hurst scored his final goal of a hat trick, a feat never repeated since even by all your multi million pound players of any nation, and male I am on about here not female footballers, then you may have lived a little in footballing terms. But until you young un's have an England team that are World Champions then I suggest you shut the fk up.

Thanks for the ''young'' JE, it's been awhile since I was called that .............. I'm happy we've won it, I'm a glass half-full kinda person and it's better to have won in that not at all (I think so anyway) .......... we're not world beaters and aren't likely to be, but that's a different argument for a different thread. Happy New Year to you, now't personal, really!

Some old fella was just on Talksport saying he was there and it was clearly over the line anyway going by his own view and also the reaction of the Liverpool player nearest it. They got us back years later when Lampards goal wasn't given anyway, these things even themselves out.

The disputes which break out on not606 remind me of the history professors of Newman and Baddiel.

Sometimes I get the impression that it's a 'local forum for local people', to quote Edward from League of Gentlemen,a shame as it puts off people from sharing their opinions

You didn't need to use their history professor characters, Newman and Baddiel didn't like each other and argued all the time.
