I think that would keep Smith in a withdrawn role and that would negate one of his strengths.
We haven't seen too much of him, but from what we have he seems to be able to get in good, early crosses which should suit Benny a bit more.

 

So would you swap them about?

Really want Smith to continue playing...got a feeling about the lad!

I dunno lads, why not let him show if he can defend first. why stick an inexperienced kid in further up. his position in LB. if he can't over lap cos moreno is there its his own fault still

 

That is the difference. Ben and Firm do great when given space but are ineffective when teams close down.

Perhaps playing someone more creative like an Ings or a Studge (when fit) would create more space for Benteke and make him more effective.

I don't think his poor showing is entirely his fault

I haven't said that he does... And I don't think we have anyone better fit at the moment Firm shares the same weakness as Benteke and the other three possible contrnders are injured. Even when fit Origi is inconsistent. Only Ings and Studge are better choices in almost every game... And theyve both been injured most of the season.

 

I think he won't play tonight but in the fa cup. Moreno hasn't been the worst player despite taking naps. Competition for him will be handy though so hope Smith keeps developing

 

ings is not all this... i think guys need to watch him back. a bust player, a nice worker but not a wolrd beater.

 

I agree he really ought to play along with randall in FA cup. I expect this fully.

I'm not going to judge a player on how he did for other clubs (only how he does for us). Ings we don't have much experience with yet; However, in every game we've played he looked fantastic, even managing to look good when everyone else looked bad.

So far (it's early days yet) he has looked our best striker this season... When not injured.

Probably the only player on the team who hasn't managed to look awful this year in at least one game.

 

I really don't know- I haven't seen enough of him, but what I have seems promising.
I'm not ecstatic about Moreno's defending, tbh- though there's more to his overall game. It might be worth a go playing them both, as long as they work together and don't leave the left exposed to the counter.
Having said all that, I expect Klopp will go for experience and keep Smith on the bench, as we're up against a strong side.

the point is if we played a front 3 of frimino at false 9 and the other two with him wide nominally is whats being asked for on here... or anything bar benteke...

any my point is fine play it but unless those 3 and the midfield with them play a hell of a lot metter it won't matter who's at no 9 or a false no 9.

don't be shocked if firmino get no joy is my point if the 5 players in midfield/attack don't work hard enough to get control of the game.
