I think that over 40 points will be needed.

There are usually a couple of teams that poor a run together.

I'm going for 43 points on GD will be ok.

Strewth guys......Why are we discussing this even? Agree he hasn't got things right at the moment but I sense a bit of discord with in Saints ranks.. Wanyama lost his rag or maybe was trying too hard so the pressure is telling on Some of the players. Mane seems to be throwing his dummy out of the pram and the loss of our strike force is hitting us hard. In truth I am not sure we want either type of player in the team despite what they can do on their good days.
As for some of the others there is players who have clearly lost form and I am beginning to wonder whether they will ever regain it. We live in hope though. It seems we have a few others that cannot seem to fire unless others in the team are too. If Cortese was in charge I have to say RK's position would be in doubt. I just don't think this present board are so narrow minded and will give the guy a chance as they should. So no I don't think we should be looking for a replacement manager but hopefully giving a bit more thought to the transfer market to help us turn things round.

Agree Beddytare - too soon to offload RK but something must be done and injection of new blood at this time is most probably what we need. How will the management react will be interesting to see - would like to see Chambers come back on loan to stiffen the RB position and someone creative to unlock more opportunities for us in front of goal. Can we chuck in a goal scorer for good measure?! :emoticon-0131-angel

You only have to look at the greatest manager in Saints history to know that acting in haste when it comes to managers might not always be the most prudent thing to do. I can't understand descriptions of Koeman being a lame duck after already proving he can do the job well. As for things going stale after 18 months, look how long Wenger has been at Arsenal and Ron is working with some new players this season.
We have a run of home fixtures coming up, win two of them and things will start to look different such is the fickle nature of football. The last thing I want to see is to see us go back to a change of manager every season and starting again. Koeman is already in the top 3 or 4 most successful Saints managers, let him finish the job he has started.

I think Koeman has done a remarkable job under very difficult circumstances - i'd be amazed if anyone here would want to let him go?

I think we'd be mad to ditch him after the first setback. I'm fed up with players getting managers sacked. Luckily I don't think this is even on the cards and all this talk is just idle speculation.

I think this is how it works:
We are all Saints fans - we always want the best players and the best manager and want to win every game. The owners and directors are not die hard Saints fans - they are employed solely on a business basis - they are employed to make the business successful. If we won the premiership that would be good business but it would be too expensive and highly unlikely. Therefore the best strategy would be to keep the team in the premiership (where there is a shop window), buy cheap, sell high. Produce young players in the academy, sell high. Get an internationally recognized manager, keep the window open. Tough for us, no mean feat for them. The good news for us is that I don't think they'll let us slip out of the premiership and we're pretty much stripped to the bone for selling on. There are only so many ex-Saints that can sit on the bench for the top 4.

For the record, everyone's future is always in the balance. But short of him getting hit by a bit of falling space debris, I don't see Ron going anywhere for a while.

I could easily see Koeman going somewhere soon. His contract ends after next season. If he's not going to sign a new one, it might be time to go in a new direction. Such an arrangement could well suit both parties.

He's already said he doesn't break contracts, & the club are clearly going to back him rather than sack him. We just need to grind 3 points, & the sooner the better.

This thread started with a sentence containing the words "Over on Saintsweb" and should therefore clearly be ignored for health reasons.

I'm in two minds about this I guess.

I think Koeman is a good manager. At the same time, managers come and go and that is the nature of the business. You can't cling too tightly to one guy. In the same way that RK is not to solely to blame for our current short-term struggles, he also is not the sole reason for our success.

If RK won't sign an extension, then we will be looking for a new manager in a year anyway. It isn't an easy decision. But no one enjoyed more success with us than Adkins, and we sacked him and moved on.

We have to trust that the club is bigger than one player, or one manager. Not because success is assured, but because we have no other choice.

Well clearly Pep has heard the rumours about Ron.

Just announced he will not re-sign with Bayern because he wants to live in a new city and manage in the Premier League.

    Welcome Pep :)
