Diawara was a very good player. He had five years as a regular pick at top clubs in France after leaving Charlton. Four times a French cup-winner in his career. The crap was Charlton at that time, not Diawara.
Diawara was a classy player surrounded by crap. Pardew actually looked like he was getting the best out of him towards the end, following a shaky start. It was a shame we got pittance for him, after shelling out a fair amount. I suppose Murray would have to take flak for that (as well as publicly lambasting him when criticising Dowie for how he spent the money).
Diawara was crap for us Fact He went on to have a good career, but he cost a lot of money which wasn't repaid in his performances. The only players that Dowie bought in that did well for us were Reid and Carson on loan. Pouso, Faye, Traore etc stunk the place out.
This 100%. If people are prepared to stand against the regime then let's stand with them for now. If people have expertise in running a campaign, let them help, if people are prepared to give time, effort, money, publicity to the campaign then let them. When the dust settles then work out if your enemy's enemy is your friend.
Andy I don't think the protest will make any difference and I will have a vlog out showing this. The amount of fans in Bartrams and queuing to buy food and drink in the West Stand before and during the game staggered me. Also the club shop was busy went I walked past. It is more important that we reframe from spending money and lining Duchatelets pockets. There is a huge division between Charlton supporters and that does sadden me. On the demonstration front we need to make a stronger stance. Turning on Murray is poor, Alwyn, Norris and Simone I think his name was were big fans of the club where are they now, none of them has been around anywhere near the amount of time that Murray has nor did any of them spend the Money either. I don't like personal attacks on any Charlton fan whether it is Jim Davidson, Richard Murray or you, we all have differences of opinion and are entitled to voice them.
The amount of west standers staring at protests before after games staggers me ...we have he expensive ST let's laugh at the peasants below attitude . If the don't wanna join in bugger off home simple as that
Murray deserves every bit of grief he gets, if he didn't make so many pathetically poor decisions we wouldn't be in this position. If he was proper Charlton he wouldn't be siding with the Belgians as they are quite literally killing the club.
Rick Everitt is looking after himself here, fact he said in VOTV we must act now time is running out why then did it take him so long to post the exchange of emails between Varney and KM. Had he put them in the public domain sooner the protests would have gained more momentum. He also agreed to work with KM on target 20K so I have a right to question his loyalty. If you find my posts nauseatingly innacurate then I suggest you either get your facts right or don't bother reading or replying to mine
How would withholding the emails benefit Rick? How do you know he withheld the emails? Stop going on about facts when everything you post is conjecture.
@Scooter I don't entirely agree with you about RE. He is an acquired taste, and despite his pay off undoubtedly still feels bitter about not being on the CAFC payroll. His time at Charlton saw 'jobs for the boys' galore -definitely not always awarded on merit, and he was one of a small clique who shielded Murray from reality and other fans views when Curbs left. His championing of Valley Express coaches also proved to be a huge chimera IMO. Rick did a very good job galvanising support for the protests last week, his Citizen Smith 'People's Party' routine will never be to my taste however. In summary, Rick has his good points but is one to be cautious about IMO. And I say that as someone who contributed to his early editions of VOTV in the late 80s.
That is laughable we would not have a club if it were not for Richard, poor decisions when he is pumping millions of pounds of his own money into the club he is entitled to make poor decisions, just like the rest of us hindsight is the best sight. If he were proper Charlton are you how many pounds have you donated just to keep the club afloat. Please Richard Murray knows a whole lot more than any of us about the running of Charlton and I have and always will have trust in him as I have said before if it was just money Richard could have stripped the club of all its assets and made more money. Attack RD and KM but going after RM is out of order
Are you on a wind up, The emails started in September Rick made them public in the last VOTV that is how I know, Now you get your facts right and while you are at it if you know Rick so well ask him why he thought it a good idea to help KM with target 20K
You were not decried I asked you if you were personally attending the protest on Saturday, and like the politicians you yourself decry, you gave a politicians answer ie: no answer at all Please send me your CV if you fancy a full time career in this noblest of all professions.
Vince, you are a great addition to this site mate Did 108 year old Inkblot ban you on ITTV ? The old git also had a vendetta against @DonCorleone and my good self
Any self respecting Charlton fan should 'empty chair' Target 20ks first meeting. Let the sly grinning bitch walk in to a room full of empty seats, and then get Olly Groome to spin that. "I was delighted that the first 20k meeting was ze great success. I spent a whole hour wishing Rich Pemberton was there"
Why the issue about when RE published the e-mails? Maybe he was only given the full text when Varney finally gave up with the Belgian mafia, I don't know. Does anyone on 'ere? Thought not. I'm not really bothered whether someone likes or doesn't like Rick, and I've read the anti-Rick stuff enough times to know it without having to be reminded. There were a couple of excellent posts about sticking together and remembering who the common enemy is, and if we're just going to bicker among ourselves we'll become a laughing stock.
Quite obviously RE couldn't put any e-mail exchanges into the public domain until a) he was alerted to them, and b) PV gave him permission Your response is the response of a man out of step with current opinion. You are entitled to your own view, but it is inaccurate and a minority view. Why! Even the man from whom you take your user name (Reams on ITTV for anyone who doesn't know) has done (yet another) spectaculer U-turn and is now congratulating RE on his initiative. I would rather support RE in his efforts, than his enemy.
Slightly off topic, but since we're discussing RE I think it's a worthwhile note. Steve Waggott left Coventry over Christmas - and found an article noting the job he did. Not as useless as one individual made out: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp.../coventry-city-chief-executive-steve-10392288
That started quite well. You're are correct Murray did keep the club afloat. He was also part of the most succesful period in Charltons history. And that makes it all the more sad that he now aligns himself with the fools from Belgium. Murray needs to resign and get some credibility back. He'll still get his loan back whether he works for the club or not. Though that of course is dependant on Charlton reaching the Premier League, which isn't exactly looking likely right now is it?
