Would have no problem with Remy on a short term loan. Much more likely than Austin on a permanent deal and he has the quality to keep us up. Also gives us a chance to see whether Mitrovic has what it takes to play in Premier League in long term.

No Chaos we do need some British players also. It has proven time and again. We are a team based in England who play their football in the English leagues. We should therefore have some English players, and they quite clearly understand the game here better as they have been brought up on it. Good players are of course a priority also, but it is sensible and prudent to ensure some are English. Sir Bob insisted on this for a reason, he seemed to know what he was doing too looking at the results it brought.

I came across something I had when I was a kid the other day - The Orbis Football Collection. This was released around the time of the 1989-90 season [or not long after.] The vast majority of players were British. Look at the PL now and the majority are foreign. A minority of those are World Class. The rest - bang average foreigners. They are cheap though and is those players that have ruined the standard of football in this country.

We need a core of British players. Not just because they understand the game, but because they can appreciate what it means to play for NUFC or any other club. The best sides in this country have more often than not had a strong British presence - Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United.

The thing is many of the British players doing a cracking job in the league, dispel the myth that buying British costs an arm and a leg.

Vardy (1m), Alli (5m), Jagielka (4m), Stones (3m), Galloway (2m), Cresswell (3.75m), Collins (3m), Shawcross (2m), Bertrand (10m), Shelvey (5m), Simpson (1m), Wes Morgan (1m), Drinkwater (1m), Dyer (1m), Puncheon (1.75m), Dann (3m), Zaha (7.5m), McCarthy (3.5m), Cleverley (free), Baines (6m), Naismith (free), Barry (free), Coleman (250K). Not massively exciting foreign buys but doing a better job than anyone we have in their respective positions in many cases.

There's a myth that British players are overpriced prima donnas. Not necessarily the case. I'd take the majority of the players you named.

I see Leicester have signed that kid from Birmingham for £3.5 million. Missed a trick there. Instead, Graham Carr is scouting some kid in the French 10th division who will never make it.

Absolutely spot on. If that tubby little prick Carr put his ****ing baguette's down for 5 minutes and took a trip down the A1 rather than an Easy Jet flight to France and did some proper old school scouting, on a wet and windy Wednesday night in Barnsley I might actually rate the guy.

Can't see us getting Remy although he is the only real class striker we have been linked with. Remy class, Austin decent, Carrol an aerial specialist but a crock.

Must be said though, Remy on loan for 5 months and then ****ing off to a 'big' club would be taking the piss in terms of the number of times he's used this club as a doormat. He's been massively disrespectful to us over the years. I'd still have him here though given the **** we are in.

    No Mitrosexual it's bullshit

If you're good enough it doesn't matter at all.

We are a multinational operation and this garbage about nationality is just people clutching at straws.

    2 things.

    1. Arsenal are spending money only the top 4 can afford. I accept when you are buying the worlds best they can overcome many of the issues through pure class. Relatively speaking though Arsenal have had not had as much success as their counterparts who have had a strong British core.

    2. Wenger himself has spoken of a desire to get more British players into his squad. He simply deemed the quality not good enough for top 4 in many cases. He now has ramsey, wilshere, Ox, Walcott, Gibbs, welbeck, chambers all playing significant roles in his first team.

So yes Arsenal are better because they spend 40m on one world class players and add that to the better standard of British players they've got.

To be honest if anything they strengthen the case. As does looking at Man U, Chelsea sustained successful spells. Don't doubt sir bob personally - he knew his onions

I agree if you are looking at very short term then nationality can be overcome. There is a reason it doesn't last though - we are a shining example of jt

I think it's cultural. English players 'tend' to have less of a mercenary approach. They have family here, they typically see club loyalty everywhere they turn so have a minor mental obligation to perform. Sometimes they over-perform to compensate. With players from foreign shores, is the agenda to impress and play to the fans, or to play for a move? Perez vs Sissoko springs to mind for us. I think if you have too much of a Benoit Assou-Ekotto mentality (it's just my job) and not enough of that cultural fit, you will not move forwards quickly enough. Arsenal are now getting somewhere because of they have Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott now leading on top of a smattering of foreign leaders (Cech/Mertesacker) and a sprinkling of world class talent. City have bought big and bought English. Spurs are flying on an English core, Everton are now the best shape they've been thanks to Stones, Jagielka, Barclay.

If we can score, on average, 1.5 goals a game from now till the end of the season we will be just about ok I think. Our current squad can not do that. If we dont spend money on guys that can score then we doomed. I have my doubts on any signings coming in.
