Dates from the middle ages that expression mate.

    Rafa at Goodison? <yikes>

A VERY small part of me would like to see that happen just for the craic. The Rafa lovers on here would go into #meltdown.

I was thinking more of this, sitting on top of St. Luke's, waiting for Robbie to come out:

  7. I see him going to Chelsea worse than him going to Everton.

I know the meaning of the phrase. I was pointing out that using it suggests the attitude that the club is there to suit the manager, when it should be the opposite way around.

You think they didn't sell it to him?

Come on......he was the hottest property on the managerial market who was available off the shelf.

Just right for us then. <ok>

Of course they sold it to him, but it's up to him to look in the bag and see what he's getting. That's what I'm saying, maybe he enjoys a challenge.
He better had, because he's getting one by the looks of things.

By that logic you rate LVG higher than Klopp!

I agree with you, I think he probably under estimated the scale of the task at hand, and probably the strength of the league to boot.

Why Yes, Rafa has won us trophies and Klopp hasn't. Bit harsh to judge Klopp yet though....hasn't spent 250 million either like....

This definitely. I've said the same in the match threads.
I know there are people who disagree with this, but I don't think there's another league where it's so easy to get stuffed by teams who are supposed to be well below you. Even more so this season, it seems.
He has a tough task, but I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes about it, though I can't say I'm enjoying it much at the moment.

Villa aside (who are utter turd) the rest of the league has no push overs in it.

The playing field has definitely evened out, with the aid of the incremental TV cash providing the none CL clubs with the opportunity to invest heavily in their squads.

I think he's going to have to re-think his strategy, as his gegenpressing is nothing new in this league. Teams play it already (minus the fancy title) and have done for years, it's called closing down and holding a high line. Work rate and pace is #standard, in this league. As are quality players. He's not going to have the luxury of easy weeks like he had in Germany. It's full on every week in the PL.

This is the bizarrest defence of Rafa I've ever seen!

I know he fluked you a CL but you lot massively overrate him. He's an average manager who causes chaos at the clubs he gets fired from.

The "bizarrest" defence of Rafa is that he won us trophies? ....erm....ok
