So what exactly were Huw and the Board doing between the Norwich defeat and Monk's eventual sacking? Surely, they should have been taking soundings to find out who was interested? The job would gave looked more appealing then - now that we are in a dog-fight, some Managers would prefer to sit back and not run the risk of being tagged as the Manager in charge of a club that was relegated ......

Wales Online also reporting we are beginning the search for a new striker. BEGINNING? The deal should be virtually done by now.

I think we can forget all the names at this point , Curtis will take us to summer or Rodgers will take over soon .
These are the only options now imo

That worries me and feels like our board have given up, Curtis has done ok and has got no more out of the team than any caretaker whose players are happy to see the back of a manager would get. I can see us having an even bigger battle to stay up if we stick with him and he is up against some very experienced managers down there who will spend in January.

For me keeping Curtis is a cope out and very short sighted of the board, come the summer if relegated we wont have to worry about a big name manager as if we are relegated they will not be interested. We will be looking at people like the idiot they have up the road. HJ needs to get his finger out of his arse and get real and move now.

I see it as more of the board has made a decision than have given up.
Most assume getting a new manager now will bring results which is a bit short sighted in itself , upsetting the apple cart now might do more damage than good within the squad .
Best case scenario for me , Curtis stays and keeps us up , we become more pleasing to the eye to managers with a fresh start and a lot of money ready to use .
Worse case scenario , we bring in a new manager and makes the squad nervous and we lose are improving play and get relegated .
What I think will happen , Cutis stays till summer and keeps us up and Rodgers takes over the reins

Curtis has done ok and I can see your point, he has zero experience at this level and actually almost zero experience in management. I hope you are right and he keeps us up, but if the going gets tough then I worry for us, does he have the experience to put things right, he is living with a feel good factor at the moment due to monk leaving when that wears off and if results start going bad then I am not so sure he is the man, he has managed 5 points from 5 games which considering the fixtures isn't to bad, but the performances at home to WBA and West Brom were less than impressive. I know it is the results that are important, and not the performance, what happens if the results start dropping off. I will eat humble pie if he keeps us up. I worry for our future if he stays as manager.

That's a big chance to take with the future of our club. I cant see any other PL taking this gamble and it is a gamble, but maybe that's what makes us different.

All I'm saying lefty is getting a new manager now is at least equally risky so I'm voting for a cheaper way with a guy who knows more about running this team than Monk ever did .
Curtis coming in the way he has reminds me of Grant replacing Mourinho at Chelsea , he didn't have to do a lot , just to settle the team and not play favorites.
I'll review my thoughts after 3 or 4 more games but the possibility of keeping Curtis for the rest of the season might be the only thing Huw and his bumbling board get right this season ...but I understand the possibility of it might not be too.

Grant had a wealth of management experience, I see it more like at Newcastle when they gave the job to Shearer and we all know how that ended. I get what you say with Curtis, but when the feel good factor wears off and if results fall, I just don't believe he has the experience to put things right, mate in 3 or 4 games time it could well be to late. Lets just hope that he gets it right if he stays, otherwise he will always be known as the guy who took us down, rightly or wrongly and I sure he wouldn't want that on his Swansea legacy.

and unfortunately you will have to add Curtis to that if no change is made he will have had over half a season. Lets be positive and say we will stay up.

I don't believe for a second that we will go down , but you brought up the "If " scenario so I had to answer .
Let's not forget as the whole half season remaining begins , Curtis has already stopped the bleeding .Goals against are down , the whole squad is getting time , all during a frantic and panicky Christmas schedule without a striker if you look at Gomis half effort and Eders injury .
I think results will come sooner rather than latter and it would be nearly criminal to change what is suddenly working .
It's all a matter of opinion and that's mine .

Not in my eyes the damage was already done before Curtis the reluctant manager was installed , he's had to work through a pile of dog mess to give us back some stability playing against the top half teams so if we do it won't because of Curtis that's for sure .

He would have been in charge for more games this season than Monk was, if he stays till the end of the season that is, most have said it is a strong squad, so if no improvement till the end of the season he will have to take some responsibility or could he lose every game and its ok cause he took over from Monk and he is a club legend. I am not saying if he was to go because of a new manager, but if here till the end of the season.

If curtis stays till the end then we probably will go down and it will indicate we cant attract a decent manager with experience that we definitely need. ..Lets be honest here and accept Curtis has not steadied the ship at all as we have always been good at defending and play good against big clubs and the same results we are having now is the same as always. There is only one person who has messed up our team and that is Jinx and the last bunch of players he has brought in that cant fit into our philosophy he is always banging on about. It's not Monks fault or Curtis's fault at the end of the day its jinx who has made one hell of a fcuk up. Monk has nothing to be ashamed of and has been one of our top managers and Curt is a legend who has done nearly every job at the club......It will be touch and go whether we stay up from here now but it's very unlikely without a good manager with experience and i cant see curt doing it and i would not expect him too anyway........If we do get relegated then so be it as it wont be the end of the world as plenty of teams have been there before and came back up. At the end of the day it's just a game and not life threatening and nothing to lose any sleep over......I like the championship anyway.....

Monks last 5 games we gave up 10 goals , Curtis's last 5 games we gave up 4....bit of discripency in your defending comment Dai , and Curtis faced better teams at a quicker rate .

Monk beat Man utd 3 times in a row and did the double over arsenal or have you forgotten ,,You dont just become a bad manager over night because you lose a few games where the defence was on a bad run........Jinx is responsible here not monk or Curtis He is the one who brought in players not suited and now we have to pay the price......It serves him right for interfering with team matters.
