Give him and Sakho a run to the end of the season and see what happens.

I don't think you can judge anyone properly when they have to play next to Skrtel to be fair, he'd make Nesta look like a League 2 player!

True - Skrtel has been the one fixture in our defence for the past 5 years. He's a massive problem.

I Defensively we've been ****e since skrtel has been 1st choice. When he's no longer there we will improve, of that I have no doubt.

He's that crap imo and looks even worse now klopp is implementing his ideas.

Lovren is (forgetting the fee) also crap, I've seen nothing of this "commanding" cb we thought we were buying and I don't think it will get much better in regards to him.

Sell skrtel asap, keep Lovren as back up, buy a cb (maybe 2, although we do have gomez to come back) and crack on.

Skertl has had way too many seasons in our team, get rid as soon as possible I've been saying it for about 5 years now.

Great to see the solidity without Skrtel <laugh> At least we had the organisation of Sakho to rely on at the weekend...that went well eh <doh> #bornleader

I'd have sakho any day over skrtel, feck I'd even have Lovren over him any day, he's a liability and has been for as long as I can remember tbh

I wouldn't have any of them given a choice but Lovren is far worse than Skrtel and Sickho can't stay fit for more than half a season (16 league games last season and 11 so far this...no use to anyone that). The full backs are pish as well....and the midfield offers as much protection as a knitted condom.

Defensively the whole team is a mess and has been for a long time. Skrtel won't solve that but you're kidding yourself if you think Lovren is the answer...or Sickho for that matter.

No I agree, Lovren is **** too, I just think he suits what klopp wants a lot more than skrtel does, sakho is imo the best cb we have at the moment and can still improve due to his age, by the start of next season I don't want to see skrtel or Lovren in our team. Or squad.

But equally you can't have a stable defence when one of your main centre backs plays less than half the games.

I'd be happy if Klopp has a better keeper and two new centre backs by this time next year. What Saturday showed (again) was Skrtel isn't the only problem...it runs much deeper than that.

I don't think sakho has a history of recurring injuries to my knowledge so I wouldn't brand him injury prone as such.

I agree it's not just skrtel but he is the biggest problem we have in our defence imo and he needs to be gone soon as possible. Obviously we need some time to get a replacement sorted, as you say I'd be happy with 2 new cbs by next year, if they are decent (better than skrtel + Lovren) then I don't think migs will look as bad as he does if all he has to do is save shots as he's pretty good at that and keeper's aren't as easy to find.

But Skrtel IS out....and we're still ****e <laugh> Sakho hasnt played a full season since 10/11 so make of that what you will. Keep him fit and no doubt he'll be in the team but even when he is fit he's as error prone as the rest of them. As for Ming, he's a big part of the problem too. I can imagine the uproar on here if Skrtel (or Lovren) gifted the number of goals he does.

As I said yesterday Klopp needs to rip it up and start again. He said he wants to build from the back so let's see how he does it. If he can do it with the shower we've got right now then he'll be a bigger miracle worker than he thinks.

That was my point <ok> Thus he'll have to buy if he wants to eliminate our soft centre. It shouldn't take much time or hard work to identify two centre backs and a keeper better than we have right now. I could do that with a phone book and a pin

I think thats only part of the issue.

I think klopp is very disappointed i nthe levels of offort and closing down of channels he is seeing.

klopp's tatcis revolve around looking for the areas of danger and positing players where they can make impact on the danger or win it back.

In short... you could buy a pair of 7 foot CBs and carroll would still be pulling out onto clyne knowing that the cross is coming as LFc players in midfield and LB slot allowed the ball in.

Klopp will have to do a lot more than just two cbs.

they whole forward line and midfield in my view are not doing what he wants.

No doubt but those are things he can work on with the full backs he has (for now). The midfield no doubt needs work too, it hasn't offered consistent protection for a long time. However there's little point doing that if the defence is still so useless. We have weaknesses in a lot of areas but sorting the shower of ****e at the back is a must.

I think it all adds up. one area on its own won't fix things.

Lovren and Sakho compliment and balance each other better. Lovren just needs confidence.
