We don't need to change formation.

There was no problem with the tactics last game. If anything we were tactically superior and should have easily won the game.

The problem was Long can't score and Wanyama was an idiot. 4-4-2 is not going to fix that.

I wouldn't call it a tactical change so much as a change to take account of our personnel. Continuing with the same formation means continuing to play with one striker who in your words "can't score". Playing two strikers could allow us to keep Long's workrate and ability to hassle defenders and include Seager, whose goal record suggests he's a pretty good finisher.

Editing this. I quite like this for Watford.
    ------Long----Mane
    ----------Tadic
    ----Clasie------Davis
    ----------Reed
    -Bert-VVD-Fonte-Cuco
    ---------Stek

With Clasie, Davis and Reed on the park the player at the top of the diamond won't have to defend much. If Pelle is fit then a flat 442 with Mane and Tadic on the wings, Reed CM Davis CM, Pelle and Long strikers might be better (not decided yet). No matter what I'd like to see 2 up top.

Not 100% sure what I'd do against Palace

    Probably this

    --------Seager--Mane
    -Tadic-Reed-JWP-Ramirez
    -Targett-Yoshida-Fonte-Soares
    -------------Gazzaniga

You have to admit, if this is how the board think then this will always be the eventuality. Believing in something better at least gives us more than no chance of breaking the mould.

Well said FLT. This is pretty much how I feel about the situation. It's not like we're not getting into those areas to score goals. So why are we not scoring?

No width at all realistically in your formation vs Watford?

Meh. Long can't finish. Play two strikers and Long still won't be able to finish. If you want Long to run around in the channels looking threatening while actually accomplish little, he's probably better in one of our pseudo-win/inside striker slots. Take Tadic out, it's not like he's doing anything.

If Seager can finish, then just play him at striker. Although I'm skeptical the love for Seager is anything other than backup quarterback syndrome. But whatever, he's a poacher with a bit of pace, so should be fine playing the striker position just like Long does.

Full backs can bomb forward in a 442 diamond. Nothing's stopping the wide CM's going quite wide at times. It's not meant to be rigid
