What an utter gem Toby has been. A big reason we concede less than 1 per PL game. Only one yellow for the entire season (Ledley-esque) . Scores from set plays. And passes like that.
Before Alli scored, I was about to ask how on earth we're losing this game? Everton have one shot on goal and score from it. Of course, had to be Lennon. Who else? But other than that, we've totally dominated this game. Our pressing and movement is at such a high tempo, Everton can't cope. Keep his up and we have to get the win. Only niggling doubt for me is Carroll who's struggling to keep with the pace of the game at times.
Criminal that we're not winning this. Excellent first half performance and good to see the Alderweireld dropping the ball in behind their defence once again to find Alli. Think that's 3 Alli's scored from the exact same move this season. Lovely strike from Lennon too but hopefully we'll come out and win it second half. Carroll's done really well too so far.
Cannot believe how much respect they are showing us. I understand the form / Boo-dison fear factor, but even then.
I think Carroll's done quite well, but he'll be disappointed with a couple of simple passes he should of made, that shot\cross thing as well . Not too many complaints after a half like that though, just need to be more clinical.
Just need a bit more faster / first-time passing in the final third IMHO. If we can take the lead, then they will be open to serious counter-attack.
Superbly taken goal and thoroughly deserved. It's been weird watching Everton play with two banks of 4 largely camped in their own half, but it is making it very tough for us to break through. I haven't been impressed by Carroll yet. Get Son on and drop Alli back next to Dier if it's still level on the hour.
There are comments about us not creating enough chances, but we've also hit the post and bar. Basically, if Chelski played as well as we have in the first half the media would be saying that they're playing like champions again.
Everton pushing much higher up the pitch...putting pressure on us trying to bring the ball out...they look much more up for it and are pushing us back
