Apart from the intelligent run & correct decision making on the ball it was exactly like Benteke.

I think Klopp is a good manager although he's shown little since he joined Liverpool. His tactics in some games have been odd and his refusal to change them during the games has been reminiscent of a Dutchman with a stupid haircut.

As much as I rate him, and I know that some Liverpool fans don't, they think he's #overrated and prone to a #meltdown, I don't fear him, mainly because he won't be given the adequate tools or resources to achieve any kind of success.

Finding the right manager isn't the problem at Liverpool, it's the cub ownership.

You overspent on mediocrity but the actual investment by the owners wasn't that huge. I'm sure it hasn't escaped your attention that you've sold your best player for big bucks in the last two summer transfer windows!

I don't think FSG have the money to allow you to compete with the big clubs. Actually they do have the money but it's their profit and they're not going to gamble that away!

  6. They do have the money, they're just reluctant to use it. They said from day one that they want the club to be self sustaining, I have no issue with that.

We've had the funds, we spent £300m whilst Brod was manager. Those two players you mentioned add up to £120m of it.

This is what I was getting at yesterday....Most LFC fans think that another 300m is coming to build a new team as the current one is ****e

But judging from comments from Klopp I can't see a huge transfer fund myself considering that LFC said that they felt that Bodgers should have been doing better with the current squad.....They believe the current squad is good enough otherwise the transfer commitee would be deemed a failure and be binned but it's still in place.

I could be wrong but I can't see the money river being left to flow myself the owners aren't doing it for the love of footy...

The problem for us is that we can't compete with a club like Man Utd who can spend £70m a year more than us an year on wages and still have a lower wages to turnover ratio than us but our achievements and results are still compared to them even though there is a huge financial gap between the clubs. We can't even compete with Chelsea, City or Arsenal in the wage department.

That leaves us having to sign players from smaller clubs (who are on a smaller wage) like Hoffenheim, Villa, Southampton etc. and hoping they make the step up.

New stand will help in some that's to that, but it's still no bigger than Arsenal United or City in terms of overall capacity (although City can't fill theirs anyway).

So Chelsea's worst form in well over a decade and they're probably still gonna finish ahead of us.

There won't be another 200 million but then that in itself came over 3 seasons under BR.

The buy mid table and hope didn't work (at least under BR) Maybe Klopp can do more in identification etc.

We bought squad players lots of them. What we are missing is a quality spine..whats that 4-5 players? If we are going to give the guy 3 years like BR then concentrate on that spine and pay for it. I dont mean try and buy the 5 all at once as we don't have the money but do we not think it more likely that Klopp can attract them and keep them over the 3 years by convincing them of his plans?

Each time we add one it should be easier to convince the next as the team will improve.

He may find the same roadblocks such as no CL etc but his rep in Europe is better than BR's was. So I hope if he decides on a target then the club will do everything to get them and not go on some stupid computer analysis spreadsheet to make the decision.

I think Klopp is used to that type of transfer style too, so its not such a worry.

Gundogan came from Nurenburg, Aubameyang from St Etienne, Reus from Gladbach, Lewandowski from Poland somewhere etc. The problem with these types of transfers is that you have to wait for them to develop, though. Aubameyang didn't have the greatest of starts at Dortmund, Lewandowski was understudy to Barrios for a season and he wasn't that clinical in front of goal and there were a lot of doubts about him IIRC and so on.

I think the talk of Reus and players of a similar stature is silly though because we haven't the wages to attract him anyway and we'd be competing against the likes of R. Madrid, Barca, City, Chelsea, Man Utd for his signature. Even the likes of PSG & Atletico are probably ahead of us in that regard.

He actually played really well today, I thought. He worked really hard and was a good focal point for Chelsea's attacks. He's definitely stepped up the effort since Mourinho's gone. I have a feeling he'll do very well until the end of the season.

I think you could be right. It's like 2012 all over again I bet. Chavs will click under Batfink. Today's performance bodes well for the future for them.
