There's an article on newsnow that says that Stockdale would rather go to Leeds than Ipswich. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the player's choice has any influence anymore.
Stockdale has said on his twitter 'no twitter ban for me' 18.7.11 Although this could just be a reaction to the news that Grayson banned his players using twiiter rather than a hint he's not going to Leeds.
Paul Jewell says that a fee has been agreed for two players, one is a loan and that they should both sign on Monday - so looks like he's coming to Town.
The stumbling block with Leeds is Fulham's insistance on a '24 hour return in an emergency' clause in the loan deal. Maybe Jewell is happy to live with this. If David is to spend a bit of time out, which seems inevitable, my view is that Ipswich is the better option for him, not least because of the manager himself.
My guess is that you'd have a time frame for the fee - say if he's not recalled within one month, or perhaps we've just decided it's worth a punt.
ATM we have Marton Fulop (AKA Marton Fulflap) and Arran Lee-Barrett, Marton Fulop is one of the best shot stoppers we've actually had at ITFC over the past decade, unfortunately he gets the flap nickname because he doesn't command his box at all and disappears when there's a corner or a cross. In Lee-Barrett we've got a non-league keeper who should go back there, no idea why he's still on the books.
Marton Fulop is number, Arran Lee-Barrett a local keeper who earned a contract when we had a keeper crisis and he covered brilliantly - but last season both of them were ropey, they have the potential to have outstanding games or to leak three goals against any given opponent. Stockdale would wipe the floor with both of them - and who knows it might get them to buck their ideas up.
Suffice to say neither of them are really number ones... they are both number twos in more ways than one...
I rate Fulop, very good shot-stopper, but as has been said, does not command the box at all. Lee-Barrat hasn't done anything really wrong - with the exception on an awful performance in the derby - but every time anyone got through, I was worried he was going to concede. Certainly Stockdale would go ahead of both of these!
I wonder what Paul Cooper is doing these days! Anyone got his number? He fits the age range and he has the experience definately worth a punt!
Now that Phil Brown (Preston Manager) has stated that Lonergan has signed for us, we can say BYE BYE to all the Stockdale crap.
