Why do we like to pretend that every loan player we've ever had is ****? People loved Ayala when he was here. He hasn't been playing for Boro either.
Agreed. I really liked Ayala, had real class. Dont think he's kicked on like he should but still a good player.
He was very dependable in a period where we had no money, who was his CB partner, wasn't it Anthony Gerrard?

I thought Ayala was overrated by most, he's not a bad player, I just didn't think he was anything special. Dawson's in a completely different league.
They haven't had their 'blip' yet and whilst they been winning they've not been battering anyone either (goal after 42 seconds against Wednesday, last minute winner against I can't remember who), nor do they seem to have great squad depth. They are in for Rhodes it seems. They were in a similar position last season and blew it.
Remember most of his appearances for us were before his 20th birthday. You can't judge the 25-year-old Ayala based on those early games (though the potential was evident).
Think their last minute winner was against the dramas. If they win their game in hand people will be saying its theirs to throw away, but there's a long way to go yet
