Fair enough - if he's still performing like this after 2 years, then I agree.

Until then, I'll continue to back one of the best performing players in the BuLi over the last 2-3 years.

This is the thing mate, and it's not just him - it's these mistakes that are costing us. It's not Moreno being up the pitch for the first goal, it's not Sakho and Toure falling over themselves when they try to pass. It's basic defensive, footballing errors which we need to cut out.

Don't talk daft the board invest 300m and expect a return? To them the squad is 300m not a list of players names?

They said when they ousted Rodgers they didn't believe he was getting the desired results the squad was capable of in other words the current squad is good enough it's the manager that's ****....

They don't see a list of flops and oh well never mind everyone knows we over pay for players we'll spunk another 300m to improve ffs??

I think it's me that may as well talk to dribs lol<doh>

Agreed. And I'm not trying to defend Firmino because he has been very poor. But some fans don't appreciate just how good this player was and his potential.

Even Coutinho has struggled in this attack as well!

What were they going to say?
"We've got rid of the manager because we don't think he's doing well enough but we also think the squad is a bit ****... the players brought buy Rodgers and the committee (who are also still at the club) aren't good enough..."

While then expecting those same players they've just called **** to put in some performances <doh>

The transfer committee still have their jobs pal so that tells you they believed and still believe in it and they think the current squad is good enough and it was Rodgers that was ****e if they thought that the current squad was ****e why would the very same transfer committee still be in place?<doh>

He has been poor, I'm not sure there's anyone who has shown consistent form in the first half of the season for us

    Lots for Klopp to ponder

Henry got 26 goals in his first season in England, Bergkamp got 16. De Bruyne only got 3 games in a Chelsea shirt and Ronaldo and Lukaku were only 18 ffs <laugh>

Firmino is 24 and looks absolute bobbins. 1 goal and 3 assists in 22 games. That road is certainly a long one if he's going to look anything like a £29m player pal.

Comparing him to Henry, Bergkamp and Ronaldo, even in their first seasons is truly ridiculous. Jimmy's in the "defend manager at all costs" stage of his support at the moment. Give it 18 months and he'll be calling for his head like he did with all the others.

In the case of Firmino he's defending his own judgement. As just before the RS signed him, he was ****ing himself into a frenzy over him, extolling his virtues on here (as of course he barely missed a Hoffenhiem game like <laugh>)
He lauded this duffer as a Wurrrld class talent.

He did precisely the same thing the previous season over that complete flop Markovic, who was an Elite European talent apparently.......who's now barely getting a game in Turkey and has done the sum total of **** all.

Not me. But even if I had, I wouldn't have spent the previous 18 months defending them blindly.

Missed the game, truly depressing result though, more because it's no longer a surprise we lose games like this regardless of our injury list.

Klopp needs to cull this squad of all the usual suspects, Skrtel Lovren toure Enrique Allen lala Milner to name just some.

The players we bought with the suarez money have set us back 2/3 years.

Klopp is not happy today, angry is the word used, angry at lack of effort I think.
Fact is we lack players good enough to get close to top four, until they are replaced with players who can perform to the standard klopp expects then will won't progress.

This result has really put that into perspective.

I'd rather we not go mad in Jan, & I don't think klopp will, but feck me this is just not good enough.

    #depressed

PS anyone blaming klopp after a qtr of a season is plain stupid or on the wum, the shower of **** he's inherited needs so much work it's a mammoth task.

I'm not depressed at all. I'm very much realistic about where we are and how we got here and why Klopp was given a huge contract to turn it round.

I would expect that in 3 years about 3 players will be left of our first team squad... not count a few hg squaddies nobody cares about of course.

And without scapegoating that includes some of the fanboy players and the victims too. Lallana, Firmino, Benteke, etc etc. .. they'll all have to be moved on.

Agree completely although I always feel **** when we lose lol

I hope Klopp gets in some faces today, play with everything or **** off! I'm sure has has by now a really good idea about who's not going to be staying around long.

IMO that's about half the squad currently, facking awful.

Defending my own judgement? Or defending a player who is new to the country and only
Played a handful of games in a disjointed Liverpool team? Despite all of that, he's still created the most clear cut chances in the team and should have had 3 more assists to his name if it wasn't for a donkey to miss them all.

Same with Markovic - criticising a 19 year old new to the league is very smart as well.

I will cut some players more slack than others and ill tell you why. I have seen far more from Firmino and Markovic both at Liverpool and prior clubs, and I know they are capable of reaching another level so I have faith they will come good.

Compare that to someone like Benteke - People are expecting more from him but I'm not. That's because this is who he is. This is his natural form - there is no higher level.
Anyone who has watched Benteke over the past few years would Have realised this.

Funny thing is I can criticise these players objectively and I have done. But if you want to make this a competition about who can predict the future - werent you saying Milner and Benteke were very good players? Milner was more than just a cart horse? Benteke is more than a target man.

I bow down to your superior knowledge, Tobes the Oracle.

It's gone pretty much how I expected to. There has been improvements, we have a better shape as a team, we do press better and more intelligently. There's no surprise, we've been good (Southampton, Chelsea, Leicester, Man City) and we've been bad (Watford, today etc.), in short, we're inconsistent. And you look at the games we haven't performed and it highlights the biggest problem we have, we can't play against physical hard pressing teams. And by play I mean both attack and defend. I'd wager that if Sturridge had been fit it would be different, but he hasn't been, and we haven't adapted, which is something Klopp will have to learn - PL is about adapting.

So there's been flashes of good, bad and certainly ugly. But, undoubtedly we have to focus on the good right now and have faith that Klopp will smooth and iron the creases in coming months, I've certainly been encouraged but there's no question we're currently going through a lull.

I'm not a psychologist, nor a manager, but in my eyes we have a team full of players who, when the pressure is on ultimately a) pass the buck b) go in to a shell. We need to focus and develop players like Sakho, Can, Coutinho, Moreno who even when our backs are against the wall and playing dog ****e, at least TRY to take the game by the scruff of the neck and TRY to make things happen, even if they don't come off. Then we need to add steel and leaders to this team. Lucas was our captain today, our heads drop EVERY time we concede. A lot of football is in the head, we need to change this.
