I like Meyler, but to say he's been playing well recently is simply not true. He was playing brilliantly up until his injury, but he hasn't played anywhere near well since his return.

Almost everyone on here thought he should be rested for the Preston game and they were right, it was the single worst performance of a City player this season. It wasn't his fault, he was knackered and should never have been on the pitch.

Surely that was the time to play Hayden, SB says the lad wants to play and it was the perfect opportunity

Nothing bitter about it, he needs resting so he can get back to his best, isn't that obvious?

I do like him. I just don't think he's playing very well because he's tired. How does that equate to me not liking him? I'm not going to say he's doing well if I don't think he is, it's got nothing to do with 'liking him' or 'rating him', I've seen first hand how good he can be at this level, our promotion season he was immense. So why is it unreasonable to want him back to those standards and be unhappy that he isn't? Because we won, is that it? If the team wins, then everybody obviously played well, is that what you're saying?

Having watched most of our games this season, he's gone through a massive spectrum of performance, from blindingly good to really poor and I think the inconsistency stems from fatigue after injury; everybody else who's been back from injury has had a rest, so why hasn't he?

It concerns me as well. Totally stupid tactic taking off all our strikers. Brucy got away with it this time but it has cost us more games than I care to remember

Hes played better than Hudd or Hayden would do which is why Bruce turns to him. He played well against Burnley. He played well yesterday.

Bruce would obviously prefer Meyler on one leg tha n hudd on two.

Anne scored the winning goal. He's a striker.

Neither Hayden nor Huddlestone could possibly have played as badly as Meyler did at Preston, Simon Walton would have been an improvement.

Neither can anyone judge how Hayden would have performed, as he couldn't get a look in, despite him being MotM in his last start.

Weird thing with Hayden, he started the season off in the team, played ****e, then was dropped, only played in the cups, played decent & had a great game v Lichester but still couldn't get back into the team. Realistically it should be a case of based on your last game, I know a lot of players being picked based on training, I don't quite get that, its performance in games over 90 minutes that should count IMO!

We where over five minutes with out a striker on the pitch. If you actually think that is a brilliant tactical move when only 1 nil up then you obviously know **** all about football. Abel should of been subbed by Diomade. If he had the score would probably have been 2-0.

    It's alright mate, it's opinion.

Meyler isn't a technically gifted footballer, but he's very good at what he does do and he's rightly in the team over Huddlestone. But on current form, he's not been meeting the high standards he set himself before his injury. For the sake of the team I hope he gets back to his best, but he just hasn't been himself and whether that's down to form or fatigue is up to Bruce to sort out, it's probably the latter and he should therefore be rested against Brighton.
