We should keep all the existing players and not sign anyone in January, the new players might be even worse.

I'm also giving up food for new year, just in case my next meal isn't as good as my last one.

How often have we changed manager with no idea who should come in and it has been a disaster? In my time supporting City -
Sack John Kaye and bring in Bobby Collins = relegation and eventually Mike Smith leads us to the basement division at the 2nd attempt.
Sack Brian Horton and bring in Eddie Gray = just avoid relegation
Sack Gray and bring in Appleton and then Ternent = avoid relegation, but then go down the following year, leading to a decade of misery, Dolan, Fish, Hately, lock outs etc,
Sack Brian Little with about 10 games to go = missed the play offs
Sack Brown and bring in disaster Dowie who fails spectacularly to keep us up.

Only twice has sacking a manager worked in our favour. Molby replaced with Taylor, and Parkinson replaced with Brown.

So be careful what you wish for - sometimes better the devil you know.

You gonna trade in the current Mrs Lambo if she cooks you a bad meal or you gonna stick with her?

happy birthday for yesterday brucie.please stop trying to contain teams in the the first half then win the games in the 2nd half.it used to work well for you and in the early days you often got a result after an average first half.but i think the players have lost heart and faith and dont believe or care.we need to go forward from the start attacking and presurising teams.get our boys enjoying their football again and we'll be fine.carry on as we are and we will all die of boredom

Face it, Bruce is going to get sacked or poached at some point, he's not going to be here forever. Why do we, as fans, need an idea of who to bring in when it isn't us who make the final decision? I could sit here and list off a load of names but what good would it do? Are the club going to ask me for a recommendation? They wouldn't sack Bruce without first having a replacement lined up; they might not know much about football, but they aren't total ******s.

Interestingly, you missed off Barmby being replaced by Bruce. Seemed to work out pretty well didn't it?

Brown and Dowie is a bit moot, we were going to go down either way, it didn't help that Dowie was a cluless ****, but we were so poor that season it couldn't be helped.

Allam is not going to sack SB and the only way he won't be our manager in the foreseeable future is if he chooses to walk away. Brown could have kept us up. Putting him on "gardening leave" was another panic measure by AP. We still had 9 or 10 games left including winnable ones against Portsmouth and Burnley (which Dowie lost) and when Brown got the boot we had just lost in the last minute to Arsenal having played the second half with 10 men.

According to your logic previous City owners must have been ******ed then, as many sacked the manager with no idea of who was to come next.

Yes. A lot of our previous owners have been a bit ******ed, they locked us out the ground remember?

Brownie left because the results and the performances were dire. He was always going to go, he'd lost the dressing room and wasn't a very popular man. God only knows why Duffen then appointed Dowie.

Why wouldn't Allam sack Steve Bruce? Where are you people getting this ridiculous notion from? If his goal is to sell the club, then he will want it in the Premier League. If we don't get there, do you think he will keep Bruce on? What reason would he give for keeping him if he's failed at his job?

Allam doesn't need to sack Brucey, the eventual new owners will do that and pick up the tab

Whether he needs to or not isn't what I asked you, I asked you why you think he wouldn't.

My personal view is that the Allams openly admit they do not understand football and are happy to stick with Brucey to the extent they have recently applauded his achievements. Brucey has a good record of getting teams promoted from the Championship, so IF any dialogue with prospective new owners is taking place, the Allams have stability and proven track record to help achieve their selling price. I did answer your question; I don't believe the Allams will pick up the tab for getting rid of Brucey when they don't need to!

Well if I was looking at buying the club and it hinged on the team going up and I'd been watching the games, compared to Boro and Derby I wouldn't be convinced, not right now.

What if we fail to get promotion this season? Would Bruce not get the sack then?

So in the ******ed list you are also including Needler who sacked Kaye without knowing who to appoint next, Robinson who sacked Horton without knowing who to appoint next and Pearson who sacked Little without knowing who to appoint next.

My views and those of the Allams clearly differ. I would be shot of Brucey next Summer irrespective of whether we are promoted or not. I've had enough of his bloody awful football and tactics

    No he doesn't <laugh>

Look what he did to Nick. He knew full well how popular Nick was and he sacked him anyway, you really think he wouldn't put business interests before how much he likes the bloke? Mental.

How do you know they didn't know who to appoint? If you sack a manager without giving thought to the replacement, then you're obviously a bit mental because you'd want whoever came in to start work straight away, you wouldn't sack somebody because we looked like going down and then waste a month waiting for somebody else. That's a mental way of doing things.

Nick was a great player and his contribution to our success in recent years cannot be underestimated. However, he was inept at management - clearly had his favorites and flogged the same players to death match after match. There was clearly a boardroom split with Assam and Ehab against Pearson (and Barmby) and there was only going to be one winner,
There is a mutual respect between Allam and Bruce that was never there with Barmby and its not to do with liking the bloke, it's to do with Allam's belief that SB is the best placed manager to get us back to the PL. If he didn't think that, surely he would have made the change when we went down.

They clearly had no one lined up as evidenced by the amount of time it took to appoint the next manager. In the case of Horton and Little we ended up with caretaker managers for the rest of the seasons in question, The men then appointed were failures - Eddie Gray and Jan Molby respectively.
