Condolences London Tiger, my Dad passed away on the night we played Man Utd on 27th Dec 2009, followed by my Mum in January 2010. It puts things in perspective, but seeing City play in Premier League was something he thought would never happen. Let's hope today's result propels us back up there for all our Mums and Dads who can't be with us.

I think we should call Diomande "Neil" instead of all of these feminine names

I was around 9, I'm 46 now so 1978ish give or take a year or two, I'm sure it was Hull vs Millwall, they were a better team than us according to my dad, either they were a division or so above us or normally higher in the league, I know it wasn't a league game so either a cup game or more likely a friendly as he was a tight twat lol - I asked what game it could have been a few years back, and I think possibly OLM (please excuse if wrong) said there wasn't a game between us back then. Was in the family stand back top corner and I think we won as I jumped up and cheered when we scored, he wasn't that amused as he was waxing lyrical about Millwall

TIGERS JUMP THROUGH HOOPS AND EMERGE TRIUMPHANT

What a game this was. Well, what a second half, to be precise. City banished their away blues with a fine two one win over luckless Q.P.R. As usual, City flirted with catastrophe early on, nearly conceding a goal after just thirty seconds. Then, almost immediately, Diame missed a great chance as City came more into the game.
The first half flashed by at breakneck pace, as both sides spurned a hatful of chances. Clucas was inspirational, creating attack after attack, ably assisted by Robertson and Diame. Livermore was lucky not to slice into his own net as the Tigers came under pressure from the home side. Nil nil at half time, and things were beginning to warm up.
The opener finally came in the sixty fourth minute. A great run from his own half by Diame, a great crossfield pass to the unmarked Hernandez, who slid the ball home from ten yards out. Both sides conspired to miss more chances as City tried to kill the game. But, just as we were thinking about three points, a great cross from Philips on the left, and Polter headed powerfully home.
In a breathless finale, City raced down the other end, and Meyler missed a golden opportunity. Then, on ninety minutes, the Tigers played their get out of jail free card. A cross came in from the left, goalie and defender went for the same ball, and the rebound bounced in off the substitute Diomande. It felt like Christmas.
Tribute to the Tigers, though, for their never say die attitude. They wanted this win, and they got it. Fortune favours the brave, they say. Well, today the cliché was true. A slightly fortunate end to a fantastic game, but now the awayday curse has been lifted, I feel it’s time to go on another unbeaten run.

Man of the match; Clucas. Thoroughly deserved.

A Happy New Year to everyone.

After the shambles recently away from home, this was a vital win, no matter how ugly. Much better than recent performances but still work to do. Like I said after Burnley, these wins need to act as a platform to build on, rather than be followed with poor results and performances.

Condolences for your loss, LondonTiger. RIP to your Dad.

Can I find out what friendly games there was between say 1977 and 1982? Would love to know if it was indeed a Millwall game, I believe we won 2-0 or 2-1, such a long time ago to remember properly

What's all the Meyler hate about? He hasn't looked as good since coming back early from injury but he got through a ton of work today, closing down and chasing, and close to getting back to his best. The only player who played badly today was Elmo, who was shocking (again).

I'm just sitting down to watch the recording now.
Although we were lucky in the end we were on top and we played with the right attitude. The throw ins were shocking. The thrower only had two players to throw to and QPR could mark them easily.

Are sure of that description of Abel's goal. It was pretty much a volley with the inside of his foot from the edge of the area, rather than slid in from 10 yards.
