I can completely understand Sunderland wanting him. They must have the worst collection of CBs in the PL. Any CB under the age of 35 must be worth at least a consideration by Sunderland. But Palace wanting him is quite strange. Yes, without a doubt in my mind, there is a ceiling to Dann and Delaney (similar to Fonte). If Palace have serious ambitions of being a regular top 8 side, then at some point they will need to look at better CBs. But Caulker hardly falls into that category.

 

I really can't understand any EPL club wanting Caulker to be honest. His performance against Liverpool in the cup was probably the worst I have seen from any CB and other than a decent second half against Man City, I can't think of any up to scratch performance from him so far.
If he wants to go then I see it as a result to get him off the wage bill as he adds nothing to our squad other than occupying a place that a youngster could fill without a drop in quality

 

To be fair to him, that Man City game represents quite a high proportion of his game time for us to date. We also kept a clean sheet when he played for us against Watford.

Yes he's not good enough for us. And yes, I can see an argument for him not being good enough for PL full stop. But that doesn't mean that he wouldn't be an improvement on Sunderland's CBs - the fact that they are rooted in the bottom three suggests that they as a team are not good enough for the PL. Brown, O'Shea, Kaboul, Coates. I would take Caulker over any of those four. They are diabolical.

 

Caulker played for England so there is no doubt he has talent. I think he needs someone who will really believe in him rather than SFC who just see him as a useful back up. Like others, I shudder every time I think of that Liverpool game.

 

Pretty sure with a leader beside him and if he played every week he would be of an ok PL standard, problem for him is that Sunderland does not have that potential leader to play alongside him, hope he moves on though

 

Is Gardos any nearer to coming back?

 

Seems that way, also the last bit about players not coming to Southampton.

 

Watford are trying to sign Keita from Lazio. Class player.

 

Saints talking to Wanyama to try and get him to sign a new contract.

Leeds thinking about getting Reed on loan.

 

Are those two facts related I wonder?

 

Is this news though? Haven't we been trying for a while? (If we haven't, they why not?!) If I'm Victor, I'm not sure why I would sign.

Given that he's getting no game time with us, regular first team football in the Championship for Reed would be a great idea in my book.

 

We broke of talks, they are back on. So yes it is news.

 

Can't see Victor signing a new contract if he thinks anyone decent will come in for him. There have been rumblings about him leaving for a while from his agent.

 

Unless there's a reasonable release clause, in which case his agent can double-dip on his fees...

 

Anyone know if Austin is out injured again or not being played to protect him before selling him, would like him but cannot see it, probably a move to Swansea would make sense

 

I watched the QPR vs Hull game last night - said in the commentary that he is injured again - may also have said he was out for a month - but cannot quite remember if its a month from now or he is part way through that month long injury.

 

Well he played in their last game I think or certainly the one previous, so suggests it is a recent one if true.

I imagine he is leaving as most teams say that when a move is imminent!

Telegraph giving us only 4/10 on hype rating i.e. it will be a quiet window. Suggests we are after Vilhena.

and who would blame them but would rather he went to the likes of Villa or Sunderland to get more EPL experience. Any Championship club would benefit from having him.
