I am pretty certain, the Arsenal scouts would have done their home work on the chap, his age also seems to suggest it is not a stop gap. I seem to re-call very few gave Coq a chance before he burst onto the scene. He had been out on loan a few times and did not set the place alight. I think his defining moment came in the game against Mancity away from home. The rest is history. The same could be said about Monreal, came into the team to understudy Gibbs, now he is a regular. I would rather a player come in without all the fanfare, (sometimes reputations and big tags could be an anchor around their necks) knuckle down, improve, settle into our style of play and just come in and do a job for us.
