So, we've now found ourselves with quite a few central midfielders. The full list:

Steven Gerrard
Raul Meireles
Alberto Aquilani
Charlie Adam
Lucas
Jay Spearing
Jordan Henderson
Christian Poulsen
(Joe Cole)

Do you think we should sell? If so, who and why? If not, why?

Sell Poulson and Cole because they are useless.

Possibly lend Spearing out (to a premier league team) as he may struggle this year to get many starts and we don't want to hamper his development.

Bob's ya uncle.

Steven Gerrard: Keep.

Raul Meireles: Keep.

Alberto Aquilani: Despite his good performances in pre-season, I still feel that if we get a decent offer for the lad (£12-14M) he will be off. I would like to see him being given a chance though.

Charlie Adam: Keep.

Lucas: Keep.

Jay Spearing: Loan to a lower Premier League team but put in a 24 hour clause to bring him back to make sure that we've got cover if Lucas get injured.

Jordan Henderson: Keep.

Christian Poulsen: Sell. Don't think I need to go into detail about why we should sell him.

Joe Cole: If a decent offer comes in (£4M) he will probably be off. If that doesn't happen, keep him till January and see what he does for the first half of the season.

I read that Fiorentina are close to agreeing a deal to bring Aquilani on loan with an option to buy for €11m. He'll take wage cut!

Jonjo Shelvey?

I'd sell Poulsen immediately. And, although I'd love to see him do well, we should look to get rid of Joe Cole. Flashes of quality, but can he become more consistant? He's on a massive wage for someone who isn't currently adding anything to the club.

Shelvey on loan, maybe? Spearing great cover as he's a solid squad player.

The rest can be rotated/accommodated. Good competition for most places, though. Looking forward to today's friendly.

<cheers>

Chris, agreed <ok>

Aqua - He may prove to be a vital part of our squad and I personally think unless we get an offer of 18mil + we should keep him.

Completely agree, skylarker.

Also agree with Shelvey comment. Think he's going to be very important for us in the slightly more long-term than Aquaman.

From an outside point of view

Steven Gerrard - keep
Charlie Adam - keep
Lucas - keep
Jordan Henderson - keep

Raul Meireles/Alberto Aquilani have to sell one of them IMO and keep the other, think you'd probably get more for Aquilani while his stock is high in Italy

Jay Spearing - loan

Christian Poulsen - sell
Joe Cole - sell

Steven Gerrard - Will be a diminishing part of the team over the next few years, but he'll still be part of the team.

Raul Meireles - He's more of an attacking midfielder in my books anyway, so I'd keep him simply as a counterpart/backup to Gerrard. He's worth keeping definetly.

Alberto Aquilani - I can see him being an integral part of our future if he's given a chance, a more attacking version of Modric is how I see him so he's definetly worth keeping hold of even if we just sell him in a couple of years.

Charlie Adam - It'd be a bit daft to sell him now..

Lucas - In my books he's one of the first names on the teamsheet, and for good reason. I think he'll stay with us for years to come.

Jay Spearing - Loan him out. He's good enough, but he won't get much game time and there's plenty of premier league sides that would be lucky to get him.

Jordan Henderson - He's a right winger naturally, so I don't think he'll be employed in CM very much.

Christian Poulsen
(Joe Cole)
- Sell them both.

Shelvey (who you've forgotten) - Loan him out too, he needs a bit more passing control and I think he'll get it playing regular football.

I don't agree with selling one of Meireles/Aquilani on to be honest, we've been missing creativity AND strength in depth for a while, now we have 2 players that can do that and we're selling one on.. doesn't make sense to me. Both could be very useful and with the inevitable Aquilani injury, Meireles will get plenty of game time.

If we have to off-load two,get rid of Poulsen and Cole,Poulsen because he's useless, and Cole because his wages could be better used elsewhere, maybe we could get 'Arry to put in a bid of say £6 million.

If 'Arry prices Modric at over 35mil, then surely 15mil is a fair price for Cole <laugh>

'Arry said Henderson was over-priced at £16 million, even though he provided more assists than Modric who 'Arry claims is worth more than £35 million.
I reckon he's anti Liverpool and is yet another Baconface rim licker. He's said Baconface pulled off a 'coup'' when he signed Jones.

Aquilani's agent has confirmed he isn't moving this window.

Steven Gerrard - Keep
Raul Meireles - Sell if we get a decent offer £12m+
Alberto Aquilani - Keep
Charlie Adam - Keep
Lucas - Keep
Jay Spearing - Loan to a lower Premier league club and allow a 24 hour recall clause (Like ChrisWood2894 suggested)
Jordan Henderson - Keep
Christian Poulsen - Sell
Joe Cole - Sell

We'll still be left with a few midfielders but remember we can have the option to play three in midfield with good cover on the bench.

Is Meireles going to sulk because Purslow promised him a wage hike?

It seems like Aqua is still a possible to go. My guess is he still wants to go back to Italy if he can. And we know what KK thinks of those who don't want to be here, albeit Aqua would rather stay than go anywhere but Italy.

These two are probably the easiest to offload so may have to go if we're to continue recruiting and can't get shot of the big-waged.

Paulson definately and anyone else who doesn't want to be there which would put a question mark over Aqualani and Cole.
