Been a bad couple of days for the music world. John 'Brad' Bradbury, The Specials drummer has died aged 62.
Although a lot the 2 tone stuff was essentially tribute music, it was a bloody good time to start watching live music. There was a group called the Hot knives, that used to gig up and down the South coast that filled in the gaps nicely.
"All the girls are slags and the beer tastes just like piss" I would be prepared to drink said beer, where is this nite klub exactly?
It's true enough. But having seen the music scene then and how it is today anyone would feel the same. Everything is run by corporations nowadays, there is virtually no spontaneity left. On TV it's Cowell and his ilk, live, it's sponsored by some ****athon company. You are living in the ****tiest of times and don't even know how really great, things were once, so I actually kind of feel a sort of mopeishness for you. As the Brazilians would say, Saudades.
And then you have Albarn up for an OBE or whatever the ****. And Noel nearly 50 and still a ****in ****er And Liam ****ing it from Robbie Williams and a Canadian fan. Fannies.
Completely agree. Only yesterday I pointed out to some youngster on The Graun, who called the 1990s "cringey" and criticised the drum sounds in Guru Josh's Infinity, that the rave scene then was fantastic. OK, you have better equipment for drum machines these days, but there's **** all going on.
