We put bids in that we know will be rejected. This kid is a tank and can play anywhere across the back and also defensive mid. No way a young prospect like that would go for 8m.
I honestly can't see us being able to sign anyone we would all obviously say, yep he's quality. If we hadn't gone to pot after the Liverpool and spurs games and got ourselves up the table even just a little bit it might have made a big difference. As it is we can't expect to sign anyone we pretty much know is good enough. As it is its going to have to be a relatively unknown quantity. Those players are out there I'm sure. Leicester managed to find some gems but that relies on a VERY good scouting system...
Money, Napoli want him out and if his agent gets a slice. Other than that no reason at all. We should have spent the money in the summer, however we obviously overestimated what we did and underestimated what the rest of the premiership did. That is decent. Shelvey is a good player. Can be quite imposing on a game. Shane Long I said at the time that we were mental not going for him off Hull. Good no messing striker who scores goals in the prem. Santon we should have never sold.
