We very nearly won that FA cup final vs Arsenal after performing far better than expected. I personally believe we would have won it had junior not come off injured.

You're probably right, maybe does not need the pressure of football management whilst earning a good living as a pundit. I have often wondered if when we were in the premier league and Bruce was struggling to get the best out of Huddlestone if he could have asked Hoddle to come and work and talk with Hudd for a while to get the best of the undoubted talents he has, which sadly we have not seen too often.

They're a much much bigger club than we are or ever will be. FACT. Who do you think we should've beat - Real Madrid?

But unless you're Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City or Man United, most teams rely on a favourable run to progress in the cup. Just read Steven Gerrard's book and he said how happy Liverpool were to avoid Arsenal in the semi-final last season and get Villa instead (not that it did them much good <cool>). I hate this attitude from some City fans. We had never reached an FA Cup final before; generations of city fans never lived to see us reach the famous cup final. Whether we played Chelsea and Man City or Southend and Brighton, it still stands as a great achievement for this club and one that we should feel proud of rather than sneer that. Christ, I remember been at Boothferry Park getting stuffed 3-0 by Macclesfield in the first round; I'd have taken a favourable cup run to the final back then! I don't think this is something we should look at in favour of Bruce staying as it happened almost 2 years ago and that cup run won't get us promoted, but it is certainly something City fans should look back on with pride.

Getting to the FA Cup final was a great achievement, regardless of who we beat to get there.

Fantastic achievement; it took over a 100 years to do it! What a great day, and so close to pulling it off!

I was thinking more of the Burnley game last season which was one of the most horrible games I have been to in recent years, also the Derby one, possibly Brighton this year. If we lose those games we can't go into the play-offs against whoevers in form and expect to win, let alone win the away legs as it stands

Another point about the play-offs is that it seems that we can't handle games in quick succession either

In their respective histories, Sunderland and Hull City have qualified for Europe the same number of times. A useful snippet for North East dwelling Tigers fans.

If Junior had come off injured a lot sooner, we might have won it. Don't forget it was his daft and needless hack through the back of whoever it was in a dangerous position which gave them the free kick to get straight back into it.

I still think the league games leading up to the cup final were daylight robbery for any fans who paid money to see them. Players just chooose to play when they want to under Bruce.

Alex was excellent that day, nearly got on the scores sheet to make it three. That free kick wasn't in a dangerous position, it was just a brilliant free kick. Mind you if McGregor had positioned himself better he'd have stopped it.

    Happy new year Roberto :emoticon-0168-drink

Sorry, but that's rubbish! Getting to the FA cup final for the first time ever was a great achievement - and a great occasion. Whatever you think of Bruce now you cannot take that away from him.

What a pathetically small mindset. If Leicester thought the way you did they'd have been relegated last season instead of beating all before them.

All I'm saying is we had one of the easiest runs in the history of the competition, which was far more the reason for us making the Final than anything Bruce did.

He tried to throw it away in the early rounds, we struggled past Southend - I was at the game, I know how **** we played - and we almost lost to Sheffield United twice. We succeeded in spite of Bruce not because of him.
