I think he's done okay, could be worse, could be better. That said with the carrot of getting back into the Prem it makes you think what the hell goes through a players mind when they don't see that maybe we offer them the best way back to the promised land, and therefore should maintain previous standards. That's the managers job along with his coaching staff isn't it? For me what's doing my head in is the dour, boring footie that's being served up, and has been for 18 months now. Supporting City over the years has never been about supporting a successful team albeit since the move to the KC we've been spoilt, but the 'entertainment factor' has gone downhill big time. Brucey has consistently stated that he believes he has a good squad this season with cover for all positions; I disagree. I don't see a decent back up keeper, left wing back, holding midfielder, and we are lightweight up front. If Brucey does manage to get us up, I for one don't believe he's the right guy to manage us in The Prem. I also accept that whilst we have the Allams in charge, Brucey will be seen as the steady option, and until the ownership changes don't see the manager changing any time soon
What total bollocks about the players. So we have players who are being deliberately selective about what games they get picked for, what positions they play in and what teammates they are to link with? On top of that are we expected to believe they are also being deliberately selective in when they will and will not put in a shift? So many good, honest players have all of a sudden gone renegade over wages really? Total ****ing bollocks from a serial apologist for a poor management team.
What a load of tripe some people spout! Our current form and that of the last 2 years now is laid at the door of one man only and that's Steve Bruce. He is responsible for getting the best out the players and it is blatantly obvious that he's not capable of that and also the players don't want to perform for the man. Our away form is a bloody joke and again is down to one man because he is still employing the same tactics away at the likes of Preston and Leeds as he did against Man City and Arsenal etc. Lets keep it tight and try and nick a goal on the counter. All well and good at the Stamford bridge and the Emirates but not really what this squad of players should have to be doing at bloody Deepdale. I'm sorry but I have a friend who lives in London who is a West Ham fan and when even he is commenting that on the touchline Brucie is starting to look like he doesn't care and also doesn't have the foggiest idea how to solve the issue then it's time for a change. But unfortunately too many people are blind to this and also blind to the last 2 years of underachieving dross we have been treated too. Also all this 'He's our best manager ever bull that everybody spouts on about' why is he? He got us promoted, we survived one year, then he spent a **** load of money and got us relagated, Granted he got us to a F.A cup final but let's face it we had a bloody easy draw to get there. Then the result of that F.A Cup final was a waste of a Euro campaign to concentrate on the league. Yep that worked out didn't it!! Bloody Brownie achieved the same with the exception of the F.A Cup final and he spent a hell of a lot less then Brucie so who's the best manager now?? And lastly all these people who say 'if Bruce goes then who's available?' Here's a little bit of info for you, you don't have to just employ someone who is out of work! You are allowed to approach a manager at a different team. Me personally i'd be knocking at Chris Hughton's or Sean Dyche's door
I just do not think that Steve Bruce is enjoying life at Hull City at the moment. He was persuaded to stay after relegation, but the changes in the club and budgets may be the cause of regret at not going. He wanted the Academy to be up and running at a higher level and got that done, but it was not without its problems, it is hard to look for a pat on the back when so many people were upset on how things were done. He had to let players go, to stay within a tight budget and I would not be surprised if we are still over spending on wages. If that is the case players will be looking at moving in January and that has to have a effect on performances. Players at times seem to be just going through the drills. Playing well within their limits and not risking injury. Should Steve Bruce go, to be honest, I am not bothered if he goes or stays. I do not think a manager will change the roller coaster ride that we are on at the moment, it will be individual players who will bring change. Players who will see that this is the only route into Premier League pay packets.
Agreed, Phil Brown is still our best ever manager. Got us to the top flight with a much smaller budget, kept us in the top flight with a much smaller budget, and never got us relegated. He even got us to an FA cup quarter final, where we were knocked out unfairly by Arsenal (who Steve Bruce also lost to) completely unfairly by biased officials allowing two completely clear offside goals.
Agree totally. There's nothing wrong with supporting a manager where it's due, but that shouldn't blindly cover the mistakes he's made over the last two years. The FA Cup final is a distant memory, we didn't even win the bloody thing but the typical Hull City attitude of 'oh we tried our best' wins through, doesn't it? "How did you qualify for Europe that year?" "Oh, we lost the FA Cup". With the draw we had along the way, was hardly a challenge was it? A load of Championship teams, a crap Premier League team, a League 2 club and a League one side in the semi finals. We even nearly ballsed that up. Being at Wembely on the day was a magic experience, but I was gutted we didn't go on to win it after being 2-0 up. The squad selections have been piss poor recently, there's been no tactical awareness; none of the players seem to get at the opponents when they are in possession, we just seem to sit off and wait for a mistake from the other team. That is the manager, by the way, he'll give them the mentality they need to play by. Remember Stephen Quinn or Meyler when he wasn't blowing out his arse? Nearly every Championship club hassles us when we are in possession but when we have to chase it down, we're lazy and sit back letting players make 40 yard runs down the pitch. With the manager situation, it doesn't have to be somebody who is 'available', we could probably poach a manager from any of the teams in this division or below without much problem.
Poaching a manager went well last time didn't it? The Phil Parkinson saga dragged on for weeks and when he got here he was ****e
If it came to it I don't think Allam would poach another manager. I think it would be against his business ethics / principles. He wasn't pleased when Leicester came in for square head, so I don't think he'd do the same to another club.
And your point seems to be let's get rid of SB and bring in anyone who has ever managed a football league team with no guarantee that the new man will fare any better. So when we bring in some unproven at this level, up and coming manager, and he can't handle the ego's in the dressing room, takes 1 point from his first 6 games and is clearly out of his depth, you'll be the first on here saying bring back SB. Anyway, read #33 on this page, and stop dreaming of a new manager. Unless SB walks away, it's not happening.
Anyone who hasn't managed a football league team would do a better job. You could write the players names on dog biscuits, and different formations, let the dog pick the team and formation and send them out without instructions and I'm sure it would do a better job than Stevebruce. In fact, I think that's something akin to Bruce's selection process.
So because it might not work bringing in someone else we shouldn't do it!? How dare teams take a risk to get success!! Haha, there is plenty of times a new manager has worked and also plenty of times it hasn't but if you don't take the risk you will never know. Also we aren't in the position we was when we poached Phil parkinson, we would now attract a much better manager with the squad we have available and to be honest we would be able to attract a better class of manager then Steve Bruce was at the time of his appointment
