Now I really do think the club is about to be sold. Bet you this is one of the conditions that the new buyers (probably Mittal-linked) have insisted on before playing the full asking price. "We are not buying the club after it has been asset stripped, don't sell Taraabt" Goes along with my comment on another thread that the lack of kit sponsor also indicates someone is about to buy the club. I am off for two weeks, bet you by the time I get back we will be under new ownership...and have new players ....and we will all be happy.
Great news Adel is staying. Be interesting to hear his opinion on it though. Statement is garbage. Talk of top targets is silly. What about Campbell, Graham, Naughton?!
let's hope that this is now gives NW a chance to try out a few different formations for this forth coming season with he new playrs that have come in. Whether there are changes later involving our talisman we will wait and see. Maybe Adel staying could be something that has been discussed regarding take overs??? anyways, off to work shortly. have a good weekend 606ers
what a load of rubbish. while i am pleased he is staying (if he does), all this means is that PSG weren't prepared to pay what Bernie & Flav wanted for him. or maybe recent weeks have just made me cynical...
If Taarabt was targeted by midfielders and defenders, there would be a problem for a lot of games but since we have some other players that teams may want to mark out, such as Dyer (let's pray he stays fit) and Bothroyd, amongst others, then teams will be more stretched as they can't mark out everyone. Having other skillful players in the set up will hopefully take the heat off of Taarabt so he has a bit more space and time to do his thing. Come on Rs! Starting to look forward to the season now.
Lots of guessing and reading between the lines: 1. Leonardo decided not to sign him after all. 2. Briatore wouldn't sell him for the good of the club! (official line and complete ballocks) 3. PSG wouldn't stump up what Taarabt is worth. 4. Briatore asked for much more than Taarabt is worth. 5. In negotiations with new owners who say they won't buy the club if Taarabt has been sold. 6. Adel decided that he wants to stay with Uncle Neil and has bought a house for himself and his new wife in the same road. 7. Harry Potter cast a spell and changed everybody's minds. 8. None of the above. Take your pick.
Warnock has now been officially gagged. If he stays after that (formally rebuffed and gagged after simply stating facts about the situation) he really does lose all credibility. He should find himself a good lawyer. No sign of these two looking to sell either. I love Adel but there really is not much good news here - we need a lot more to stay up and the situation regarding Kyle Naugton says all you need to know about the future.
Great news that Tarbs is staying... We would've had no chance whatsoever of replacing him. Things still aren't great in the long term, but as things stand we at least have a shot of staying up this season.
100% agree. That Statement nearly made me puke. They really are the lowest of the low. That statement proves how much contempt with which they regard us fans. I hope the protest plans are gathering speed.
@Smudge1962 Paul Smith As for announcing they won't sell Adel Taarabt I was told last night despite all the widespread speculation they haven't had a single bid
Okay, now we know Tarbs is staying we have pretty much the same strength side that won the CCC in May. Bothroyd (plus a geriatric) in and Routledge out. When we won the League I figured (rightly or wrongly) that we required around 6 quality additions to allow us to compete in the Barclays Premier League next season. We're still 5 or 6 shy IMO. And with the Goons just after saying they're "trying to bring in a couple more" it doesn't bode well. Shoot me down for my negativity!!
A lot of us R's think he's worth at least 10mil...or so it seems going by what I've read in other threads. I don't actually think Flab is being greedy or is asking too much by refusing the (what's been reported) 8 to 8.7mil from PSG. The statement that he's not being sold now as "we want to keep our best players" is total ****e as I believe a 10-11 mil bid would have been accepted.
loftboy, I noticed that too. Exact wording is "staying for the summer". One does wonder. Either way, happy to accept as good news at the moment.
