Sometime in the next few days we travel to London to play Arsenal. We will get hammered. I'm going for 4-0.
So I have! How weird, I'm fairly certain this isn't my 44th post either.... Ah, yesteryear. What a great time that was.
It's important to occasionally have matchday threads like this one - if only to make the rest of us look good!
Let me the first to say, on behalf of Jakarta, that this thread is a vast improvement on ACS's old efforts. No flowery crap or pointless stats. Well done.
We do seem to do better against the better teams - maybe we are built for counterattacking (must be that as we don't seem to be built for defending, pressing, all out attack or even parking the bus). In fact I don't think we have a bus. Trouble is the only way to beat Arsenal is to nick an early goal and then hang on for dear life. Cant see us doing that. Think we will lose by a couple or six.
We got this, no problem. 1-2 We seem to turn up against the bigger teams and there is always the chance that Arsenal won't apply themselves as they can - look at the Southampton game.
We will lose 6-0 and McClaren will blame the referee for not giving us a penalty when we were 4-0 down. "That would have changed the game and swung it in our favour giving us a chance."
I've picked 3-0 in the prediction thing with Arsenal comfortable winners. We offer nothing up front at all right now.
If we set about them from the off and ruff em up a bit, it might just be enough to unsettle them. As the old saying goes......... They don't like it up em! That said cant see anything other than another loss here.
I've watched Arsenal a fair bit this season, and I think it's only a reflection of how generally poor the league is that they sit top. They're beatable (for a side with a bit of talent, anyway). All those things they were missing 5 years ago, except a decent goalie, they still miss. Ozil is the only one who has stepped up. I don't think it'll be a massacre, I don't see them as being capable of that at this stage in the season, it'll be more of a routine stroll. I would bet any money that they won't win the league, they'll run well out of puff before March.
