My grandad emailed me that picture in the OP. He didn't think it had been photoshopped and thought she was a strongman. Doh!
on a serious note it was very sad to see some of the damage this series of storms has done. some poor folk have lost most of their possessions.
What got me was seeing some of the ancient bridges being swept away. These things have been there for centuries and it's a reflection of how bad the storm is that it's done damage that centuries of storms haven't.... There's talk of a lobby on Cameron to divert some of the foreign aid budget to our own needs domestically. Something I think I'd support.
I'm not sure if they will divert some of that foreign aid budget, Albert. I would imagine any money sent to help other countries comes with strings attached....trade deals etc. The UK government gives nowt away for nowt.
Horrible to see the destruction the weather has caused. It will take years for some areas to recover.
We're not to worry apparently. The north has had more spent on it for flood defences per head of population than the south. All we need to do now is contact the clouds to make sure that we don't get more rain per head of population and we're sorted!
