    exactly, besides "big" men are needed to hold the ball while a defensive minded eam to get up the pitch if they have not got blinding pace up front, not every smaller club can have a transition game like Leicester, and big men to cause havoc at set pieces.

    We need to create goals in play if we wish to advance, dependong on big men is ok for clubs hoping to stay up, or finish mid table, we need pace technique ability and intelligence to play top level footy, not style ;) If the team do all of the former, people will say we have style.

    Yep, he picks managers that can get the best out of the players there instead of appointing a manager then having to change half the squad to suit him.

    Right to some extent.

    The underlying philosophy of the club will remain so they hire manager who is in line with that philosophy. As a result, the players brought in by each manager should fit the philosophy of the club which should minimise any disruption if a new manager comes in.

    They had the right idea. And they had the right idea by appointing Brod - young, attacking manager etc. Just a shame they didn't follow it through.

    Ah well - we now have Klopp. <ok>

    You were the ones that talked about Stoke's "defensive style". Nobody said that you could only use one word to describe a teams style. I just don't see where you are getting this stuff from? You are both arguing against something nobody has said.

    I didn't even say Liverpool couldn't play with a big man up top. I specifically said Benteke wasn't suited to our style of play. If we had a player of Lewandowski's quality it'd be a totally different ball game. He's still a big man but he's much more intelligent, mobile, clinical & he's a lot better technically. Benteke is more limited so he requires a specific kind of service from players around him to thrive.

    Yes. A through ball... please note I reckon not one of the goals he's scored so far are prob off the stereotypical type of ball proffered

    Nothing in his second half display fits this severely limited technical ability accusation either.
