I think he's far better than what we have and would open us up on counter attacks, ability wise maybe not much between him and AJ but the pace difference is huge. We need pace it's our only hope, stronger at back and faster transitions. As it stands we are gone, we have to take a chance to have a hope.
I agree that we need to take a chance and try something, this one just isn't for me, but obviously, I hope to ****ing god I'm proved wrong. Aston Villa now making their move for Remy, now that's a signing I would be pleased with...
Agree with the posts about Johnson and I think his time is done at our club. He's not consistently good enough and I'd rather have the pace of Townsend in the team to scare the opposition along with Watmore getting at them. Many fans have been crying out for fresh blood and removing the old guard. Seems like a perfect move to me - i'd get rid of Johnson to a campionship side but that won't happen - maybe boro would take him on loan.
Remy really would be an impact signing, we never go for that kind cos Ellis will not pay the wages, hence we are in the **** to our necks.
Johnson's in court in a few weeks anyway. The whole debate about him or AT might be pointless if he goes down. Almost anybody who's prepared to come to us in our current situation and work his arse off gets my vote!
The Tottenham lads are all saying he's better on the left and that's where we should be playing him...
So we're just about to sign the son of a bitch who put 3 past us a few months ago Great news I'll take his picture off the dartboard and put him on the cool wall!
I would rather be a gay Islamist *****phile than deal with Levy. The man is not far behind the pointy chinned c*nt in being a c*nt. PS; Nowt against Townsend tho.
Allardyce has watched him in the past if I'm not mistaken, personally at a game maybe two years ago roughly. That should tell you all you need to know about who's 'buying' the players. He's not a defender I'd say who oozes class or composure, I've seen him turned inside out by agile quick strikers even this season and I've barely watched any Lig1 this season, but he's a unit, a typical SA type signing and most importantly I'd say he'd improve your squad.
I agree with Billy, this sounds very much like a Johnson / Rodwell ttype signing. Got an ex-England player on your books who never fulfilled their early promise and has a questionable recent injury record? Send them Sunderland's way for double their value I don't think Ellis is as stingy as some people make out, our spending has just been appalling consistently for the last god-knows-how-many years. This doesn't change much imo. I can't see Remy costing Villa any more in either fee or wages (if rumours are to be believed), but I know which player I'd rather here. Poor decision making by the board yet again.
Whilst I kind of agree the window opens on Friday so the board haven't actually made a decision yet. I'll reserve judgement until after the window closes
14 million is about 10 mill too much imo. Word is Norwich are looking at Naismith for 8m! I'd have some of that like, and you would think we would be the more desirable team for him.
He definitely had a few moments that were Bale-esque. Some great strikes from outside the box and an absolute cracker against Swansea earlier this year where he picked the ball up in our half and left about 6 Swansea players for dead before burying it in the corner of the net. He gets a lot of stick on ofrom our fans so I'm not going to pretend I'm in the majority with this opinion but I think there's a very good player in there. Every Spurs fan will tell you that he shoots too much and that his shots are often poor but really it's his decision making. The lad can clearly strike a ball well but too often he has a go when it's not really on and I think that's at least partly because he's always trying too hard to shoot his way into the team. Other than the first couple of months of the 13/14 season, when he was playing really well and first got an England call up, he's always been in and out of the side so I do feel that was partly to blame for his poor form. It's a shame he hasn't made it with us as he's a proper Spurs fan and often goes to watch our youth sides play. I just think Pochettino has decided he's not his type of player and given that we've got Son, Lamela, N'Jie, Chadli, Alli, Eriksen and Dembele who can play anywhere in the 3 behind Kane you can see why Andros isn't getting a look-in. I'm sure he could've left in the summer but he stayed to fight for his place, it just hasn't happened for him though. Think he'd be a good signing for you guys, he's not going to break down stubborn defences but with most sides likely to push on against you I think he'll get a lot of joy on the counter. Just don't let him take corners and get Big Sam to sit on him everytime he takes a stupid pot-shot from distance. If it all goes tits up, you can always have him sing at half time: Best of luck beating Liverpool. Someone's going to score a belter in the second half, I can feel it
