Italian full back Marco Motta to join QPR next week Tom Thorogood @lapazenglish Marco Motta is currently available on a free transfer. According to a report by Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, Marco Motta is to begin training with Queens Park Rangers next week ahead of a mooted January switch. Embed from Getty Images The Hoops have struggled somewhat since their relegation from the Premier League last summer, occupying 13th position in the Championship and lying some seven points off the playoffs. Newly-appointed boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been tasked with guiding his side to the playoffs this season, though without new additions it’s looking increasingly difficult for the Hoops. January is a big month for QPR, and their bid to strengthen their squad is already under way with reports suggesting that Marco Motta is to join the club for training next Monday ahead of a potential deal. “A new adventure on the horizon for Marco Motta. The footballer, currently available on free transfer, will begin training with QPR next Monday ahead of a possible transfer,” di Marzio's report reads. Motta, 29, began his career at Atalanta and later had spells at Udinese, Torino, Roma and Juventus, winning the Supercoppa Italiana with the latter in 2013. The one-time capped Italy international last had a spell at Watford, joining the club last February and making nine Championship appearances before departing Vicarage Road in the summer The versatile fullback has been without a club since, though reports in Tuttomercatoweb have linked him with a move to Scottish champions Celtic with the Hoops allegedly offering him a one-year contract. Motta is predominantly a right-back and would offer QPR further options as James Perch and Nedum Onuoha have thus far featured in that role despite arguably being better placed elsewhere.
I say snap him up ................. the backs we have are still leaking goals and can't sustain and pressure, hence we've drawn a few after having the lead. 29 is not that old, especially for a back.
Probably take 6 months to get him fit going by previous Jan deals we've made + would like to give Furlong a go who seems to have been forgotten despite being thrown in at the deep end in the Prem.
Doesn't look good on paper. Not rated by Ranieri and not rated by Watford. Been at Juventus for 5 years and has turned out 24 times. There may be trouble ahead.....
Lads there can only be three teams promoted from this mad division Even with top quality signings does anyone of here think we are in a state to play in the top flight?
No, it's not going to happen mate. If we take last season as a guide, Ipswich finished 6th on 78 points. If were to get 78 points from our current position we would need to get 48 pts from 22 matches. An average of 2.18 pts a game. We currently average 1.25 pts a game. So in 'old money' we would need to win about 15 and draw 3 of those 22 games.
Indeed Ninesy. On current progress, avoiding the bottom 3 should be JFH's target. Mid-table obscurity and a divided forum over JFH will do for me this season
We do have a Watford reject of our own who can play CB or DMC he's called Diakite and some of us miss him.
I'd bring him back for the Brighton game to snap Lewis Dunk into a thousand pieces but apart from that, he's best remembered as the lunatic who cost the club £1m a year for four years
I'd play him so we could run a book on how long he remains on the pitch before gets sent off, shame he's never been able to re-display some of the potential he showed initially & so become another wasted signing.
Due to meet Lee Hoos after the 14th as off to France tomorrow. Not sure if I will attend meeting at QPR unless the club fights for itself to become something. The football looks very normal and so does the brand.
