Morning WJ. Who you or I think should run the league is irrelevant. The fact is that the FL negotiated a deal with Sky with support of the club chairmen that allows sky to choose which games they show, just as they have with the premiership, so for Cellino to refuse Sky access simply made him look like a petulant schoolboy, particularly as we were going to break FL rules.
I think LoL Cellino was making the point, albeit badly, that Sky have too much power and should remember that not everyone appreciates having games moved to fit in with their wishes. Not a bright move on Cellino's part, but worth making the point nevertheless
I agree with the above 60, but he hasn't done a bad job standing in for Berardi, but it's not brilliant either. Just before Derby's first goal Wootton was in our penalty box, near 6 yard box, this left their winger on his own which Byram had to pick up, then they scored; Wootton would never be my first choice RB. I have to agree with Boggers though, Bellusci over Bamba for me, although it may have been tongue in cheek from Boggers. Bamba involved in giving Derby 2 goals. Before Bamba came back, Bellusci and Cooper were doing well together, our goals conceded had dropped to a trickle with some clean sheets, Bamba comes back and we concede 2, Bamba was also making mistakes leading to some goals scored against us before his injury as well; they say you shouldn't break up a good partnership, a 5th yellow for Bellusci it seems did that. If Bellusci is serving a 2 match ban for receiving 5 yellows, Byram has now received 5 yellows, so we'll be without him for 2 matches, that's going to be a big blow.
?????? It's not like enough people don't already think the silly **** doesn't have enough class to honour legally drafted contracts.,,. He got nothing apart from more ridicule by pulling the pointless stunt..,...
Agree entirely Davy. Sky make their money in part because they charge pubs a fortune to have Sky. EU Law now means that pubs can show footy from any European station. Many of these charge markedly less for footy than Sky. The only downside would be commentary in something such as Greek or Turkish. One wonders if Sky will bear this and the likes of Cellino's stunt in mind when they come to bid for the next set of tv deals in a year or two. Also worth noting the rise of BT TV
I agree with you both, Dave and Boggers, while some were saying Cellino was being a nutter again for going up against the FL, I thought it was always about making a point and bringing attention to our congested Xmas fixtures, which he has as it got a fair bit of media attention; Evans was also making that clear on several occasions......
TC kindly presented the FL rules on this (post #33?) when he failed yet again to prove another outlandish claim. It's clear that no rule was broken as no time limit for access is stipulated, and as we all know, access was eventually given. Unless of course there is indeed a stipulation in the contract we aren't allowed to see. But how would we know that?
I didn't say you broke the rules though did I? Keep up!! Your contract is with the FL and as such you are contracted by their rules - anyone can see them & to pretend otherwise makes you look foolish (again) Not having a good few days are you Jocko?
I dunno.... i think he is having an excellent few days. Landed on his own hooks at least four times since Christmas. Mensa must be reconsiering his eligibility! Although with no certificate to prove otherwise I am not sure he qualified anyway.
I cannot believe that Bamba got man of the match. That's it, I guess we're going to have to put up with him now. Bang goes the defensive improvement. He may have scored a goal, but he cost us two. He's entrely to blame for both. For the first, as Evans said, "He made a huge tunnel with his legs to let the boy through", or words to that effect, then fell on his arse. Useless. The second goal was entirely down to him too. There was no gap to run into until he made one of his infamous lunges to intercept & messed it up completely, creating the gap they needed. Useless. Totally lacking in discipline. Bellusci has not been a paragon of virtue, and will always have a mistake in him, but I'd pick him ahead of Bamba any day. We also missed Bellusci's 60/70 yard diagonal upfield balls. He's very accurate with these & they're superbly weighted. Cooper is no slouch either with his distribution. Bamba? Best left unsaid, I think. A final point - Bamba almost cost us another goal late on. Did you notice that he tried to let a ball run to Silvestri, when it was never going to hit the penalty box? He had all day to pass it comfortably himself, far less have to clear it urgently. Serious misjudgement on his part. And before anyone comes up with the 'not match fit' card - forget it, it was business as usual. He was on top of his usual game. Sadly. I've also noted that Silvestri isn't being slated on here by the gloom goons. Do you think they may be acknowledging that he's come on leaps & bounds? Have to comment on Wootton too. I'm no great fan, but he's been fairly solid the last few matches. Like most Championship players, he's got a mistake in him, but he's not our worst in that department. Someone mentioned Byram covering the right for him. That's actually been a feature since Byram's return. When we're defending an attack, we often (not always!) structure with 3 CBs, Wootton being one of them when the attack is down our right, and Taylor being the other when we're being attacked down our left. Byram & Dallas fulfil the fullback duties, covered by the aforesaid auxiliary CBs. Might not be so clear on the radio, or even the telly, but very clear when you're there & get the full view. Never noticed this system myself before. That's not to say it's not been used by us before, just saying that I've only recently noticed it. Anyone else picked up on this?
Yup Bambi is dogdirt and I feel Wooton is doing well, does that make me a happy clappy and not a gloom goon aka Gloria?
