Roma could turn to Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens after having a bid rejected by Genoa for Diego Perotti, say reports. The Giallorossi are in the market for a new winger with Juan Iturbe set to join Premier League outfit Bournemouth in the January window. Gianluca Di Marzio reports today that the Lupi have targeted Perotti, but that they have had a bid turned down by the Grifone as it was considered too low. The report says that Roma will now consider one of sporting director Walter Sabatini’s former targets, Netherlands international Lens. Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has called for the introduction of a "Rooney Rule" to allow home-grown managers the chance to compete with foreign imports in English football. Allardyce will go head-to-head with one of the Premier League's newest overseas recruits on Wednesday evening when German Jurgen Klopp brings his Liverpool side to the Stadium of Light, live on Sky Sports, on Wednesday. The former Blackburn boss has grown increasingly concerned at the lack of opportunities for British managers, something which has become a pet topic over the years, and he believes the situation has reached a stage where the authorities must act to level the playing field. Allardyce said: "The problem for me is we are denying British coaches positions in all divisions now, particularly in the top division and the Championship, and we need to do something about that. "As a country, as the FA, as the Premier League, we need to protect the position of our own highly-qualified coaches who are not even getting an interview now. "What we could do is make sure that a British coach is interviewed for every position, a bit like the Rooney Rule. "It would be a fantastic idea because there are so many coaches out there who are highly-qualified, have spent a huge amount of money qualifying and have a great amount of experience and are not even getting the opportunity to do the job in their own country as they should be." please log in to view this image Allardyce believes that homegrown managers have to be given a helping hand The Rooney Rule was adopted by the NFL in America to ensure at least one black or minority ethnic candidate is interviewed for every head coach vacancy in an attempt to address the lack of representation from those groups.

Not much there that will save us imo. TR may be marginally better than FB but we realy need defenders as a matter of urgency.
As someone who is staunchly against quota systems, it would be a joke to implement a system like this. If you are good enough, you get the job. There is a reason Sham hasn't ever had a top, top job in English football and it has nothing to do with his nationality. Same with black ex footballers wanting to be managers. You need to prove yourself to get a job. Not just get a qualification and expect....
I bet we all know of some buggers ending up in senior positions above us just because of a piece of paper.
