Forest have had nine televised games, Derby and Leeds have had eight, Leeds have only had three home games televised, it's a load of bollocks and the bloke's a headcase.
Their game tomorrow morning is their 10th televised game of the season. Exactly, 7 away games. That much harder for fans to sort out tickets to.
No it isn't... Second-placed Derby have already featured in eight live televised games this season, the same number as Leeds. Nottingham Forest have appeared in nine, the most for any Championship club. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35191715
The article I saw reporting on it said they'd had 10. Perhaps that is only referring to league games, whereas they may have had a cup game televised?
Leeds United will be charged with misconduct if they ban Sky TV http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35191715
I think Cellino is protesting against the overall number of Leeds games televised. If you're a Leeds fan with a grudge against him (and there are plenty who won't step into Elland Road whilst he's the owner) you can watch nearly half of their games on TV without having to give Cellino any of your hard earned cash. Watch it in the pub for the price of a few pints. Cellino's blaming Sky when in fact it's his poor relationship with Leeds fans that is the problem.
If this happens then Leeds should be made to return all the money they have got under the Sky deal and the monies distributed to the other 23 Championship clubs
I wonder what all Leeds United's sponsors, who are paying them a small fortune for exposure, think about their mad owner not wanting to be on TV?
Leeds have had higher attendances at televised games, than at their non-televised games and they get £100-120k on top. The loss of revenue is a complete myth, Cellino is just pissed off that all the fans that are boycotting because of him can still watch the games.
I'd love it if they actually did manage to stop Sky from filming but it won't happen. It was utterly ridiculous the amount of games we had on Sky when we were last in the Championship. The midland clubs and Leeds are on it every week. I think we ended up with something like 9 Saturday 3pm home kick offs.
Leeds games are televised because they get high viewing figures, the significance of the games is often secondary, their game against Blackburn was televised and was about as insignificant a fixture as there'll be all season.
They have "reluctantly" let Sky in but have warned this will be the "last time" they allow them in. If I was Sky, I'd choose another of their home games to be televised really soon.
The FL should just relegate TWS down to league one and have done with it. Stop this messing about. Sky should have pulled the plug yesterday and moved onto to say the Brighton v Ipswich game tonight imo.
Leeds have backed down. What a pointedly pointless little exercise in pointless point scoring that was.
