We've a bit more than last year.

Studge was constant; in both seasons he's spent most of the time injured.
Firmino is probably similar to Sterling, except Sterling scored more.
    Benteke is better than Lambert.
Origi is a bit better than Borini (could become much better).

We're still in the Position that our Forwards are basically a beast who doesn't fit our style (yet) and who misses several Sitters, a raw 20 year old, and someone who can Play as a false 9 which might work against some Teams and whose form has been patchy at best. It's not a great situation.

That's not to say we definately need new players; I think it's more about working on playing together, developing the younger players and getting players into form.

We had Balotelli & Lambert last year. So we had about the same number of strikers as this year. The problem with our set of strikers in both years is their lack of quality and the fact they don't suit the style we play.

Meh sterling was pish..... totally unsuited to position and missed terribly.

Firmino is in and out. He's still adapting so ok. ... sterling at least knew the league.

At least you didn't mention the awol balotelli for last year.

I'm better than lambert ffs.... Benteke is way way better.

And Origi is better than borini only cos Rodgers never wanted borini at all.... origi has a lot to develop yet but at least he proved he can actually hit the target at times.

Imo no 9 is not really the issue. I think it's the wide attackers.

As of right now, Sterling last year was better than Firmino this year. Obivously I'm hoping for Firmino to improve considerably.

Benteke is way better than Lambert, but we still haven't managed to integrate him into the team effectively.

Borini with more support and game time could have done better. Origi still hasn't done too much except to start to look promising tbh.

And what did Rodgers do? Play sterling.

Balotelli borini and lambert might as well have been on a beach.

This year ok Ings got injured and Mr sick notecis the same but sorry... Klopp has used his 3 options. Plus style is a falicy imo I laughed for years at midtable or worse spurs waffling about style.

Let's mug off this chat about "style"

    Style schmyle.

Effective football that gets results, then we can worry about making it stylish, after it's actually working

Spurs have to be taken seriously atm. 3rd and getting 3 points regularly.

Of course much of that is everyone else is ****, but still, they are not losing often

I think if any team can win 3 games on the bounce, they become title contenders ha!

How is style a fallacy? Its complete nonsense to say that different styles of play don't exist, are you actually claiming that all players fit universally together and would be able to play in any team?

What is "style", in football terms, the meat of it anyways?

Style and tactics are often confused

Take Stoke's defensive "style". That's tactical not style. A lot of team and individual work go into it. Style is just a descriptor, that really tells someone nothing tactically about that team. Ask Neverton and BlewNited <whistle>

Its the style of your play. Pretty simple really. I don't see how I can make it any simpler.

The style is the underlying philosophy that the club are working towards. It's how they want the first team and youth team to play. It's an identity.

Tactics are the specifics of how to achieve that.

There are different styles of defending. You can defend high, you can defend deep, you can push right up onto opponents or you can stand off them.

  20. I'd say the 1980's Watford played a different style to the recent Barca <whistle>
