Ten more wins and Bolton will have a chance until they get a points deduction. Walls win was due to their inspirational match day thread

Obviously the Southend players had their Christmas party last night, but well done to the Wallies for beating a load of drunken twats in their cup final

Did any pf you silly ****ers see the Denis Law interview yesterday?

Absolute quality from the old boy!!

Interviewer "Do you think your Man Utd team would beat the present day one Denis?"

    DL "Yes, 1-0 I think"

Interviewer "1-0? So you think it would have been pretty close then?"

DL "Yes, but only because most of us are in our 70s now"

    Afternoon all,

Byram, Bellusci & Mowatt will not be selected for this match. The first 2 have 5 yellows, & Mowatt is resting a groin strain. Limits our choices a bit.

Defence - Bamba will return in place of Bellusci. We don't have the luxury of anyone else to consider, so no other changes to the back 5. I think Coyle might get a late runout if the match is going the right way.

Midfield - Cook has been quite average in the last wee while. Not poor, just average & below his best. Murphy did ok in the last match. Has everyone forgotten him heading a cert goal off the line at a corner? He was covering in case of a short corner, & when he realise it wasn't on, he sprinted back to cover the near post. Just as well - Silvestri was beaten! I'm really not sure what the midfield will be, as I guess it wholly depends on the tactics adopted. I suspect that we'll be playing 4-4-2, as we've got better personnel available for that than 4-3-3 or 4-5-1. Bridcutt will be the first name on the teamsheet. Adeyemi, if recovered, will be next. Otherwise it'll be Phillips. Then it gets more difficult to find a blend with legs. Murphy will probably get the nod, and either Dallas or Sloth will start. I think Cook is heading for a rest.

Attack - if 4-4-2, I think we'll start with Ant & Duke. Wood deserves a rest. He might not be taking all his chances at the moment, but at least he has progressed to find himself in the right place at the right time. Knackering work when you're up there on your own, so I think he's due a wee rest. He'd need to be sub, though - we don't have anyone else! :D

So here's my guess at a 4-4-2 team. The most difficult choice this season, I think.

    ........................ Silvestri
    Wootton ... Bamba ... Cooper ... Taylor
    ...................... Bridcutt
    ....... Sloth ... Murphy ... Adayemi
    ......... Antenucci ... Doukara

Subs: Peacock-Farrell, Coyle, Bianchi, Phillips, Dallas, Erwin, Wood.

If we go down the 4-5-1 route (and I think it's likely, tbh), I think it may be something like this:

    ........................ Silvestri
    Wootton ... Bamba ... Cooper ... Taylor
    ...................... Bridcutt
    Dallas ... Sloth ... Murphy ... Adayemi
    ..................... Wood

Subs: Peacock-Farrell, Coyle, Bianchi, Phillips, Botaka, Doukara, Antenucci.

Wow! That was difficult to do! Not easy to read Evans mind.

Evening ristac, the fact that Byram has scored 3 in as many games must really get to him, it would me.

If you had asked if we would settle for a 1-1 before the game, I'm sure we would have taken it...

Evening Davy, Murphy went through a period last season (January I think) when he was on fire.

    You never know.

Been thinking all day, who would like us to try to bring Matt Smith home in January?

He would give us a different option up front, wouldn't cost much as he's not exactly tearing up trees at Fulham, is likely to be willing to come back as he knows he's Leeds and was unhappy to leave in the first place. Even with Cellino still here I think he'd feel he had unfinished business at ER, and he's the type that I think Evans might get the best out of.

    Just sayin':bandit:

Before he arrives, Evans better get a coach in to teach the lads how to cross a ball
