Elliot is ok.... Has been doing well. Cleverly should of been marked on the edge of the box plus mitrobollocks had a great chance to put the game to bed as for darlow it was basics and very very poor today

Elliot has done ok, he's certainly done better than most and has kept us in the game in some matches so give him a break.

Elliot has played well since Krul's been injured and has kept us in a few games so I'm willing to give him a pass on that punch.

Darlow looked very shakey today. However it was his first PL game so he's bound to be a bit nervous. It's a bit unfair to judge him too harshly on one game imho. Hopefully he will learn from the experience and improve. (admittedly he has a long way to improve on that display)

Elliot has performed much better than l expected him too.
Defence lost concentration for the Cleverly goal, and not the first time.
As a team we cannot marshal games out.
The goal should not have mattered as we ought to have been well in front by then..
Elliot seems more vocal than Krul and personally l have no problem with him.
Hope his illness is short term or we really are in big trouble.

Elliot has done absolutely fine. He deserves to keep his spot when Krul is back really.

Two clubs, who have traditionally always had solid goalkeepers, seem to have been left up **** creek this season.

    Pantilimon
    Darlow
    Mannone
    Elliot

    That's shocking.

Be fair, Pantilimon is a decent keeper.

He's cost us an awful lot of goals this season, mate.

He doesn't know how to parry the ball to safety, he generally pushes it back into the middle of the box, where a striker normally tucks it away. His distribution must be the worst in the league, it has to be. His kicking is horrendous and never finds a Sunderland player. When in a 1 on 1 situation, he doesn't narrow the angles down correctly.

We have one, imo, very talented goalkeeper at the club, but he's on loan at Preston. There's strong rumours we are calling him back in January, and I for one, really hope we do. He'll go on to be a top goalkeeper in this league, I have no doubt about that. Jordan Pickford.

I can't see the problem with Elliot this season.
He's played well, without his efforts, we'd be lucky to be in double figures.

Darlow's debut was an absolute shocker, Kicking poor, crosses atrocious, confidence nil, flapping like a bird at most things. Even Alnwicks debut ( v Chelsea ) was better and he was hopeless. I'd rather we play Woodman if Elliot is out again. FFS McLaren, give Thauvin more than 5 mins and Toney musy be worth a chance as Mitrovic couldn't hit a f..king barn door witha banjo.
If McLaren doesn't try something different soon then say goodbye to the PL.

I think that's really harsh. Sunderland's numero uno problemo is the same as ours, the defenders cannot defend.

Pantilimon is so physically massive he barely needs to dive, he just basically topples over. He is usually great in the air picking crosses out of the sky and while he has never been great one vs one because of his reactions (he's still far better than Krul), he is capable of covering the goal well.

I agree his kicking ain't all that, but when you're down the bottom with **** players, your keeper being Pirlo is not important.

Pickford does look class, but he has flaws and is very very young so will defo make mistakes. Keepers take a few years to mature.

He has done the basics pretty well and his distribution is good, plus he's a communicator. I'm happy with him.
