Why is Crooks wetting himself over Shaqiri's goal? It was a good goal but it wasn't the "goal of the season without a shadow of a doubt".

 

Watford 1-2 Spurs.

 

Everton 3-4 Stoke!

 

I really like the guy, but it's surely now time to question Martinez's position. Obviously there's a lot of talk about the likes of Utd and Chelsea under-performing, but Everton seem to escape discussion completely. And yet for me, they too are massively under-performing - again. Last season I gave Martinez the excuse of the Europa League, but he can't behind that this year. They should have so, so many more points than they do.

They'll be bottom half in a few hours time, as one of us and West Ham have to overtake them.

 

That Shaqiri goal is quality, better than Martina's for me

 

No idea what to make of Everton; they're absolutely fantastic in attack, but they're like a boxer who'll feel the first solid punch and drop all semblance of strategy in favour of an all-out brawl. It's not so much that they defend poorly in those matches...they stop defending entirely in their zeal to score another.

Fun to watch, however; four of their past nine league matches have involved at least five goals scored.

 

Everton will be ****ed when Stones, Barkley and Lukaku leave.

 

Never in a million years. And I'd say that whoever had scored the Martina goal, even a Portsmouth player.

 

No chance. To score a goal from 30 yards out with the outside of your foot getting it to bend like it did is a very very difficult thing to do.

 

Personal opinion obviously, think Shaqiri's required more ability to hit a 50 yard ball first time and lob the keeper with that much control is far harder than striking a ball in the way Martina did

Why don't you try striking a ball with the outside of your foot and see if you can hit it that sweetly.

 

It is, but yeah we will have to agree to disagree, Martina's not much different/better for me than Arnautovic's against Utd

 

Why don't you try taking all the pace off a 50 yard cross field ball coming across your body, first time, to lob the keeper on an angle

 

I know refs get labelled with the "never played football" tag, but you are proving this point. A ball coming out from a clearance to the edge of the area is MILES easier to strike than what Shaqiri did. Martina's is still obviously a great goal, just not better than Shaqiri's

 

I have done actually. Well, it wasn't a 50 yard pass, more a 25 yard pass but I managed to score a similar goal in a kickabout in my local park several years ago. Bit of a fluke I admit.

We aren't getting anywhere with this, you can prefer Martina's and I will prefer Shaqiri's. We clearly aren't going to change each other minds
