Levy has only ever sold our best players when he'd been given no other choice by the player and/or his pimp ( sorry, agent!)

Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, and Bale, all demanded transfers. Three of the four pretty much went on strike to force a move.

All Levy could do under the circumstances was extract the maximum from the buyer.

  3. Every player has a price.

Spurs wouldn't sell for a quid but they would sell for £1b. There is a switching point somewhere inbetween.

    <laugh> Angry.

On the contrary, I'm glad that you agree with me that the only winners at Spurs are Lewis, Levy and ENIC.

I did, I've just noted that you haven't refuted it <ok>

So you made it up, then?

I'm quite surprised that you've managed to create a single sentence that's not internally consistent, by the way.
It starts by saying that you've pointed out where I said it, then admits that I haven't. Brilliant. <ok>

You're tying yourself up in knots again <laugh>

I'll simplify it for you. I said that Lewis, Levy and ENIC are the only winners at Spurs, you went blathering on about something totally unrelated and in the process didn't refute the point I was making.

So ignoring your nonsense is agreeing with you, is it? What a dumb claim.

Anything that HIAG's said that you haven't directly refuted is true then, in your opinion.
Given that you follow him around like a puppy, that probably doesn't leave much, admittedly.

I have noted that you're still not refuting the claim that the only winners at Spurs are Lewis, Levy and ENIC :)

To be fair we sold Toure and Song after we had got our use out of them, no-one batted an eyelid really. And plenty had called for Clichy to be sold before he actually was. Henry won multiple trophies with Arsenal before moving to Barca, he doesn't really fall into the same category as the others.

Fabregas, Nasri, RVP were sold due to our financial situation and not competing. These are the three who arguably fall into the category that would make us look like a selling club. Fortunately for us we are now passed that tight financial period and have brought in the likes of Ozil, Sanchez and Cazorla to replace said players. Coupled with our recent trophy success and consistent CL appearances we now seem to be in a much better position and very much not a selling club.

It will be interesting to see how Spurs try to hang on to their best players, whilst paying for their new stadium. Arsenal have weathered that storm and are back to being a trophy winning club again.

As toure and clichy and nasri all won league titles with city there is logic in saying that they were not past it.
I think the truth is that the biggest clubs such as Barca and Real Madrid get whoever they want through their ****ty tapping up and mega rich clubs can afford everyone those 2 don't want...so it's near impossible to stop players leaving if they want out.
We ain't a selling club imo cos we only sold Carrick, Berbatov, Keane, Modric and Bale are the only players we did not want to sell who left us in the last decade. ..all demanded a move so in effect we faced a choice of risk losing them on a free or bleed the buying club dry....so we did the only sensible thing to do.
If Kane, Eriksen, Lloris and Ali all want to leave they will be kept for another year (as happened with Modric and Bale) and then sold for an eye watering amount probably abroad.

Michael Owen won the league with Utd, didn't mean he wasn't past it! Having won a league title isn't the criteria for where a player is at in terms of his own ability. Toure was past his best and a lot of Arsenal fans saw Clichy as a liability. Fabregas, RVP and Nasri are the three who we wanted to keep who left due to how competitive we were and our financial situation. Since then however we are in a much better position to keep our best players and unless it's Barca/Bayern/Real knocking on the door I'd imagine we can tell anyone else no.
