It shouldn't have any negative impact in theory but I just feel that maybe someone like Henderson goes back into his shell with such an influential figure back.

Similar to when Paisley was in charge and Shankly came back for training sessions until he was told to stay away.

There's always a chance but I don't think so, I imagine Gerrard will be training only and not involved in tactics.

Gerrard has no influence over Klopp and is only allowed to train at Melwood because Klopp gave him permission to(loads of ex-reds have been afforded the same courtesy in the past), if Hendo is a genuine captain he won't let Gerrard's presence at training be a negative influence, he'll be bhoyed in the fact that he's replaced such an iconic legend.

    James Carroll @James_Carroll84
James Milner believes Liverpool are entering a defining period of the season in exactly the right kind of form as they prepare to kick off their busy December schedule.
The Reds have won three games on the bounce to move up to sixth in the Barclays Premier League table and secure a place in the knockout phase of the Europa League.
Jürgen Klopp’s side now face a month of seven fixtures before the conclusion of 2015, starting with Wednesday’s Capital One Cup quarter-final at Southampton.
“This is always a crucial period,” Milner said. “The league table always looks so much different at the beginning to mid-January than what he does at the start of December.
“You see suspensions and injuries taking hold and teams losing and gaining form. It is a great time to be in good form going into this Christmas period and hopefully we can keep it going.
“It is a talented squad of players, we have a great mix of youth and experience and obviously a new manager. The stadium is being upgraded as well so I think it is a great time to be involved at the club.
“It is exciting times for everyone. If we keep working hard, keep improving, keep doing our job then hopefully we can be successful.
“We just want to keep getting the wins on the board and hopefully get into January and February and still be in all the cup competitions and give ourselves a shot in one of the cups, see where we are in the league and assess it from there.”
Liverpool’s last outing yielded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday, with Milner’s second-half penalty claiming the points.
The vice-captain accepts the Reds weren’t as free-flowing as they had been in the 4-1 demolition of Manchester City a week earlier, but was pleased they were able to demonstrate a different side to their game.
“It was important to get the win,” said Milner. “If you don’t get the win then it sort of throws that good performance [at City] away. With the conditions, I don’t think it was ever going to be the prettiest game of football, but these are the sort of games you have to win and it is very pleasing that we showed we can do that.
“You are not going to play well every week and you are going to come up against difficult conditions. Every game is different and you have to be able to win in different styles. It is not always going to be pretty football and how you want it to go to plan. To be able to grind out that win was really important.
“With the amount of games we have got coming up and getting into Christmas it is an important time to get some form. Hopefully we can keep this form going through Christmas and keep racking the wins up.”
Sunday’s win against the Swans was also significant for another reason – it witnessed the returns of Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge from injury as second-half substitutes.
    Perfect timing, believes Milner.
He stated: “It is massive. They are two top quality players and any team in the league would miss them. It is great they are back.
“To challenge and get where we want to be you are going to need a squad of players.
“You look at the quality of the whole bench, look at the players we have injured, you are going to need that with the amount of games we have coming up. To challenge and get where we want to be you are going to need a squad.”
Next up for Milner and his teammates is the trip to St Mary’s as Liverpool aim to book a place in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup – a tournament the Reds are determined to go all the way in, he insists.
“It is a great chance of a trophy,” said the 29-year-old. “The League Cup gets some bad press at times for whatever reason, but if you ask anyone they would take a League Cup this season.
“We are one game away from semi-finals and then a shot at Wembley. It comes around quickly but it is a great competition. I have been lucky enough to win it and hopefully I can win it again.
“It is the first competition you can win this season. No-one will be complaining if we are sat there in February or March with a trophy in the cabinet with plenty more games to go. Everyone would be delighted with that.”

Jürgen: Why I'm often talking with Emre Can
    Chris Shaw @shawct
Jürgen Klopp believes there is much more to come from Emre Can as the Liverpool midfielder develops the skills that have allowed him to impress from the centre in recent weeks.
The German international has featured in nine of the 11 matches since his compatriot was appointed Reds manager two months ago, though he is not available for Sunday’s trip to Newcastle United.
A yellow card received during the midweek Capital One Cup thrashing of Southampton means a suspension for Can and a decision for Klopp at St. James’ Park.
The boss is sure Liverpool will cope with the No.23’s absence this weekend, though he has high hopes for how much progress lies ahead of a player signed last summer.
Klopp said at his pre-match press conference: “Emre is like the whole team, he’s in a good way. The big difference between him and some other players is he’s very young.
“He’s 21; very often he doesn’t look like 21 in his game, sometimes he looks like 18. That’s the truth and he knows it.
“We are very often in talks about this. He has a problem – he speaks the same language as me! That means I can talk more with him.
“Emre is a really good player and I like working together with him. But he’s not available for the next game. Of course, it should not be the biggest problem for us, we have other quality players that didn’t play on Wednesday. They are recovered. We will have a good formation.
“Emre, like every young player with obviously big talent, has to learn.”

Klopp and Lovren up for Premier League awards
    Chris Shaw @shawct
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp and defender Dejan Lovren have each been nominated for Barclays Premier League awards for November.
The Reds won two of their three league games during the month, bouncing back from defeat by Crystal Palace to rout Manchester City 4-1 away from home and beat Swansea City 1-0 at Anfield.
Klopp has been named on a four-man shortlist for the division’s Manager of the Month honour – alongside Claudio Ranieri, Roberto Martinez and Mauricio Pochettino.
Lovren, meanwhile, is one of six candidates for the Player of the Month prize, with Ross Barkley, Troy Deeney, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Jamie Vardy his competition.
The winners will be announced on Friday.

Wow - Lovren being nominated is ridiculous. Fair play to him for not being as **** as he was.

Klopp hopeful that Sturridge is fit for Watford match.

Houllier: Jürgen was always talking about Liverpool
    David Lynch @LynchMDavid
Jürgen Klopp was a 'true fan' of Liverpool even prior to taking charge of the club, Gerard Houllier has asserted.
Just over two months have passed since the German was appointed to the role, and he has wasted little time in winning hearts and minds at Anfield.
That comes as no surprise to one former Reds boss, who has come into contact with Klopp on numerous occasions over the years.
Houllier says the former Borussia Dortmund coach was always keen to hear of his own experiences of Liverpool and was a supporter of the club before taking on the manager's job.
“Jürgen has personality,” the Frenchman told the Daily Express.
“I know Jürgen from UEFA meetings and he has always liked Liverpool. He had a passion for the club.
"He was always talking about Liverpool; what we did, how we lived. I can tell you he was a true fan of Liverpool and he was following the results before going there."
Klopp has faced regular questions over bringing in players during his first transfer window with the club, but has remained coy over the possibility of January arrivals.
And Houllier is pleased to hear that, given that he believes the Reds are in a strong position to kick on in the coming months.
“I like what Jürgen said, ‘I am not going to sign anybody’. They are in the semi-final of the Capital One Cup, which could give a lot of confidence for the rest of the season," he continued.
“We saw that when we won and you saw that with Chelsea. When [Jose] Mourinho won that trophy [in 2005], he won the title on the back of it.
“Sometimes with a competition like that you get a sense of relief first because you win something and then it gives you confidence.
“I would not neglect that aspect of their season and they play the second leg of their semi-final at home. It is interesting.
“They are still in the Europa League too, and they have a role to play in that. That can bring them confidence.”
The 68-year-old, who famously masterminded the 2000-01 treble-winning season at Anfield, also praised the style of football Klopp is bringing to English football.
“In a way, he will bring something different. And the way he plays is a very modern way; high pressing, offensive football and quick transition," he added.
“I don’t agree with those who say the standard in the Premier League is not what it was. Because the pace of the game is so high and so intense, you sometimes think it is not as technical as maybe it used to be.
“But it is still entertaining. You don’t find teams trying not to lose, they go for a win."

Daniel Sturridge says he is 'good to go' after his latest hamstring injury
Jurgen Klopp will resist the temptation to pick Daniel Sturridge until he is sure the striker's body can handle it.
The Liverpool boss and his staff claim they have put Sturridge through his toughest training in three years in an attempt to end the injury problems that have restricted him to 24 appearances in 18 months.
Sturridge said at the weekend he is "good to go", but Klopp is reluctant to repeat a pattern that saw the England man make a brief return a month ago only to suffer another hamstring injury.

We'll do well not to rely on him. I've not known anyone in our history who's been off sick for so often and so long. By the time his contract has ended he would only played one third of the eligible matches.

Kew ell. I remember his lazarus like rise from his sick bed when the aussies coach said he was not going to the 2006 world cup unless he played.

He then binned them after group phase when they let in a goal.

I remember him faking injury in 2005 and being the reason we got hamann on the pitch and he miraculously rose from the dead to celebrate his winners medal

A groin injury if real is too sore to jump about singing champions.

Sturridge is as bad I think

Christian Benteke (centre) is hoping to build on his winning goal against Leicester
Liverpool striker Christian Benteke says he is ready to "run more" following a frank conversation with manager Jurgen Klopp.
Benteke came off the substitutes' bench to score the winner in Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Premier League leaders Leicester on Boxing Day, his first league goal in nearly two months.
The Belgium international has scored only six times since arriving at Anfield in the summer following a £32.5m move from Aston Villa and has received criticism from certain sections of Liverpool supporters for a number of perceived below-par performances.

Interesting to hear Klopp on lovern.

Those at the club must have absolutely torn him apart when telling Klopp about his players.

Clearly still a lot of divisive stuff at lfc.

Klopp and his coaching team need to prove they are in total charge of recruitment I reckon

At least Klopp is backing his players even he doesn't think they're good enough.

Not saying that he thinks Lovren isn't good enough, just saying that he's publicly backed the likes of Migs, Lallana, Can and Milner.
